98SVT - was 06GT

Is it really a "Carroll Shelby" built car? The best explanation of the Z Vin tags is this one https://groups.google.com/g/shelbyresearch/c/vvHdD9CG4d0

With all the latest updates from information gleaned from SAI Production Orders and Invoices kindly shared with us, here is some updated info extracted from them and incorporated into our statistics sheet:
The earliest INVOICED date we're finding for a Z-vin unit is 4/28/67 (the last business day of April).
The earliest SHIPPED date for a Z-vin unit is 5/2/67 (the second business day of May).
Also, the change in Ordering District, from 84 (Home Office Reserve) to 89 (Transportation Services) appears to have taken place on SVOs, on approximately 5/1/67.

Could the Z-vin and the SVO Ordering District changes signify Ford Motor Company's official takeover date of SAI?
It's sure looking that way...

It's got my vote.

Registry says car 1956 completed on 5-2-67.  Fits in your early "Z" stamped timeframe.

The Shelby VIN plate says more than just the VIN.

Coralsnake

Carroll Shelby didn't have any more control over the 1967s than he did the 1968 or 1969s.

The same people were calling the shots and paying the bills. Shelby didn't prioritize building production cars, he was too involved in promotion and racing.

Its a nice fable. "I talked to Shelby and he remembered when they built my 1967"

+1. Yeah, I have tired of so many "experts" on other sites(social media and auctions) saying the last "real Shelbys were built in 1967". OK, whatever....

Being that I grew up a few miles from there and had friends who worked there at the Romulus plant I never have seen those wheels on a car until now. I really like them also. If I was anything but a white male in 1978 I would have been hired there(told me that by one of my best friend's dad who was a supervisor there). So I was introduced to affirmative action at 18.
