Did the '69 spare have a plain jane rim or a five spoke and what would the tire have been.  I'm assuming it came with the air cannister.  Thx.

Since the excellent information in the  www.thecoralsnake.com/69tires  website did not completely answer your question I will give confirmation that spacesaver installed was a plain steel rim . I hope Pete will add the addition of this tidbit as I have been asked many times about the same question given illustrations on some jacking instruction stickers. Also earlier pre late March cars did not typically come with a bottle cradle and later cars did.

Most likely but I am not for sure that if in 69 the standard 14" steel wheel is different between disc and drum.

FYI the yellow sticker in not concours correct if that matters. That is because they were not available at the time of the MFG or even a couple years after. They were sent to Shelby owners as part of a recall starting in around 1971. I have a letter from Ford including the sticker asking to immediately apply to wheel. Dealers were probably asked to apply them as well just like the caution fan stickers. It is only a small minority of 7.35 space savers that I ever see for sale have them applied. I have not seen a survivor car yet that has had one applied not to say a survivor owner could not have received the letter and applied the enclosed sticker but that out the many survivors that I have seen none have had the sticker applied. I have however seen a couple where the sticker was loose . Apparently a sticker was received and rather then apply it the owner tossed it in with the space saver.

Good eyes Gary. I missed what I call the double valve stem . Those later 70's space saver's are the ones that the stickers were applied to at the factory . I cant tell in the picture the size but the majority of those with the double valve stem had a F 78 14 sized tire too.

I have original wheels-69 Mach1 chrome wheels where I see the same thing stamped. I'm sure that 9ME isn't a date code per year/month/week so to speak. That spare is the original to a May 6th 1969 Dearborn car. I can pull the wheel out for further inspection.
