Gas Tank Cleaning with California Emissions

I have a 70 Shelby GT500 that has been sitting for years and still retains all the original California Emissions components along with lots of crud in the gas tank.  I'm looking for someone with a great reputation and history that can refurbish the tank.  The tank appears very solid but has years of crud in it.  Who do you recommend or any other advice that might be out there.  Thanks in advance for any help

I have the same tank. I filled mine with some Evapo Rust multiple times. Then used Evapo Rust and a chain in the tank to swish it back and forth for a long time. Came out great.

Keep in mind that if you use evaporrust or other rust dissolving products that you end up with bare unprotected metal on the inside of the gas tank. It would be prudent to coat the inside with one of the gas tank sealers made for that purpose. Otherwise the unprotected metal will start to rust in short order. I have not tried this on a emissions tank so I don't know if it is feasible.

The best gas tank cleaner I have ever used it white vinegar. If you have pin holes you can use Bill Hirsch gas tank sealer.

Bob is correct. I used a sealer after the Evapo Rust. It's been 5 years with no issue.

Get new sealer - not one you've had sitting on the shelf. New gas has some nasty additives and alcohol that will eat the old sealers. There are complete kits for about $70.
I'd get a new repro tank without the capacity robbing emissions garbage.
