Forum Guide

We have implemented a Photo Gallery for hosting images right here on SAACFORUM. Using this feature will allow fullsize images to show in your posts, without having to do the "attachment" thing.

Right now, every Member has a default Gallery to upload pictures....that's how we will start.

Additional Public Galleries will be added for various categories...like Events or specific models.

More on that to follow...

But.. let's look at the process to get a picture into your Gallery and include it in a post.

Step 1... ...you will see a new Menu entry called "GALLERY"

Step 2... To add a picture, click on Gallery and choose ADD PICTURE

Step 3... Under the USER GALLERY bar, click on the SELECT CATEGORY pull down menu

Step 4... and change it to My GALLERY

Step 5... then, click on the ADD PICTURE button

Step 6... Follow these three steps to create the picture file:
      1) Give it a TITLE
      2) (optional) give it a description
      3) click on CHOOSE FILE to fetch the picture from YOUR computer. Browse your system to select the image file.

Step 7...  Once you are done, click on the ADD PICTURE button to upload.

Step 8...  voila... the image is uploaded. Now, click on the image Thumbnail to view it in Viewer size.

Step 9...  Click again to see the image in Full size

Step 10.. Use RETURN TO GALLERY link or just click to go back.

Step 11...  Now, the best part. Below the image is an IMAGE LINKING CODE area, with a BB Code line.

JUST... click on the COPY icon at the end of the BB Code string and it will create a postable link of the image and AUTOMATICALLY copy it to your clipboard.
Go to your new post and, whereever you want the picture to appear, just PASTE.
(Either right-click your mouse and choose PASTE...or try ctrl-V on your keyboard.

More features will be added over the next few days... but try it...and have fun.

I like the size of the image after clicking.

How do I get a large picture to begin with such as several on the 66 pictures of cars thread?

Thanks Les

...found 6S1348 after a full year of searching. It was in a garage I passed every day on the way to work. I looked at cars in front yards, back yards, storage garages, in fields, and under trees. I found a 65 that had hit a tree and was bent all the way to the back...

I'll try again but for me the system is freezing about half way through. I tried four times and gave up. I see this as no solution to posting pictures. Why should it freeze? Is this the same old server that would crash most of the time when uploading pictures before?

I was able to go through the process and post the photo but the size of the photo is way to big (Probably 3 times what it should be). How can I get an image that isn't so large.

Open it with MS paint.  on the toolbar there is what looks like a box inside a box.  Its called resize and skew.  Click that and change the percentage from 100% to somthing less like 30% in both boxes.  Save as a new name.  Now you have a picture that is smaller.

Leave the picture alone.
After you paste YOUR PICTURE'S BBCode, an example of which is noted here:

Edit the code to add the "width=xxx" parameter. You don't have to use 500, as you can specify any number, but it works well for most pictures and user screens:
[img width=500]http://www.saacforum.com/gallery/411-220118161012.bmp[/img]

See this post to view the results of using this method:

Note how the pics stack nicely on top of each other and how a click makes the pictures larger.

Note that this is only one way of many to post pictures . . .

Thanks for the resizing tip Bossbill. It would be nice if the software had a resizing feature or auto-sized images but modifying the insert code isn't all that hard. Worked great for me  ;D
Now when will the "peel out" and "cheers" emoticons be restored?  ;)

Is the "Bulk Upload Many Pictures" feature supposed to work?

Is the "Bulk Upload Many Pictures" feature supposed to work?

Also, is there a limit to how many photos we can put in our "My Gallery"?
I've got a lots from SAAC 40 and SAAC 33 that I can start posting.

Official suggestion is not to use it. But it does work sometimes, just haven't quite figured out the order you have to follow.

Up to yesterday evening I had no problems, now  I'm not able to post images, text is no problem, I get a message that says "up load folder is full"  ???
