       Over the decades I quite often have been asked in engine swap intentions whether such & such engine would 'fit' in a certain chassis; and my frequent response has been:  "If you drop it from high enough, it'll fit right in there"!   ::)

       Well, in this instance presented, this may prove to be bad advice!   :o

This was an interesting one for sure. The aircraft was a Carvair - They were converted Douglas DC-4 aircraft used to ferry cars from Ireland or England across the pond either from Ireland to England or to France / Europe. Very unusual aircraft, probably on its last legs in 1969. This link mistakenly identifies it as a Convair.
