Today I was speaking with my friend Kieth Champine (SFM66H) from the forum about one of our favorite subjects, USL on 1967's.  The topic of the car used on the 67 brochure came up.  I mistakenly thought that this same car (believed to be car 176) was also in the famous 1967 commercial.

Who could blame me when all I was ever able to find of this video was of the poorest quality?  I used to believe that the car in the opening scene might be nightmist blue.  Well, Kieth showed me the best version of this commercial where it is obvious that the first car is instead a dark moss green and the second is NOT 176, but rather a bronze car.  What a difference.  I wanted to post this incase any of the newer members hadn't seen this great quality version.

Now, it's been said that the dark moss car might be no. 003, but what would the bronze car be?

I recall searching for that higher quality commercial / video. There were at least a dozen posts with the poor quality version and only that one descent quality version. Good idea to post it here for every to see!

Assuming the Dark Moss Green car is #0003 it was built 10/19/66.

There were 10 Bronze GT350 show cars all built within about a week of each other 10/31 - 11/8. The earliest were the 4 built 10/31/66 (#0059, 0060, 0075, 0078). All 10 Bronze show cars are noted as completed and shipped on the same day. If we knew when the commercial was filmed (or maybe when it aired on TV) that might help to narrow it down slightly. Still, without SA documentation, this question will be a tall order to definitely answer.

Of the 22 GT350's built, we can only rule out #0095 with the vertical grille.

Kieth is to thank.  He surprised me when he sent these two screen grabs.  Wow, what a difference.  I finally see bronze.

Is it just me, or is there no sound with this version?

Yeah, Kieth is THE MAN for stuff like this, and a really nice guy. Years ago I gave him the nickname "KOP," – King Of Pictures – for his skill and dedication in scanning period pictures and sharing them here on the forum. People will never know the hundreds of hours he spent on the George Watters Collection. And that doesn't count the MANY other picture sharing projects he has been involved in for the benefit of this community.

Sorry. I didn't mean to hijack this thread. But I thought a word of appreciation for one of our most prolific contributors was in order.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

Kudos to Kieth and the many others who dedicate time and energy to preserving these pictures as well as the history of the Marque.

I for one am very appreciative of the way so many contribute to these forums to the benefit of us all.

The shot of the Green car at the Hotel entrance has the more forward fender emblem position, like the B&W photos Brian has indicating the possibility of 0003. The Green car driven by lady is a different car I believe. Fender Emblem is in the more standard position.
