I saw the orbit orange car sell for 1 mil. It was an auto. My friend's car is a 4 speed. So I wonder what is the added value of a 4 speed? Red/red interior/ white top and restored right by the best. I wonder if he will chime in? He already owns a 7 figure Shelby(67 vert).

agreed 4 speed should pull more, but it's not for sale

I'd take the money and run, on anything close to $1mil for a GTO. (Or even $500k.)  Yeah, cool and rare and so on. But, I'd prefer a real 289 Cobra for my million or so.  ;D

As for the Black Ghost...cool story and a significant car. But, I'm guessing $760k hammer price.

Having owned 1 of the 23 RT/SE  4-speed pistol grip hemi challengers i can tell u how unique the SPECIAL EDition 1970 dodge challengers are as they were only offered in the new  first and only year  SE 1970 challengers and they are a unique number code in the serial number so they cant be faked. They have a unique top with smaller rear  window in the formal roof and a  overhead console with a unique padded headliner and rally dash with tach and floor console with deluxe seats either leather or houndstooth and deluxe door panels with carpet along the bottom and special  SE emblems inside and outside with the extra chrome trim etc. My car was hemi orange but i had to sell it as part of my devorice settlement for like 26.000 back in 92!!  I since then have owned 3 RT/SE 440 six pack 4 speeds challengers . The black ghost is very special besides being  a black  RT/SE it has the houndstooth white black interior and rimblo wheel  white  RT tail stripe  gator grain top front bumper guards etc. and a GREAT story so look for it to bring big bucks close to Steve Julianos 1970 orange hemi  only sunroof challanger restored with original parts only and it has my set of no-size original nos f-60-15 polyglas gt tires .

Ed I owned a 1971 RT SE 440 six pack plum crazy Challenger. Overhead console but IIRC the back window wasn't smaller but had the vinyl roof.

Side-Oilers

Hemi are great, but I really enjoy a well set-up 440.   Lots of torque and still revs out pretty well. 

I've owned:

'67 Plymouth GTX, all stock, 440/375hp, automatic. All orig.

'70 Challenger R/T, triple-black, 440/375hp 4-speed.  Nut & Bolt Resto.

'70 Charger R/T 440/375 hp, automatic. That was a 95 point concours car. Three build sheets. All orig.

And a '70 Chrysler 300 Hurst, 440/375 hp, automatic.  Rare luxo-beast.

I dig Mopars from the '60s to very early '70s.

Gary the SE challenger was only 1 year 1970 the first year challenger built so your car may have had some similar SE option but not a real SE as its coded in the serial number in 1970 only.  I had many mopars back in the 70s GTX  Chargers   cudas  callengers GTS  buick grand sports. lemans 409 chevys corvettes  cougars etc as i liked all muscle cars but i kept some of the fords i owned the longest mainly mustang fastback gt  of all years and  mach 1s boss shelbys torinos   cj verts 68 69 70 71 and even some coupes for a short time.

So to be clear Ed you said you owned a RT/SE 1970 Challenger. It was coded as an RT/SE JS29. So if I had a 1971 RT/SE Challenger coded as an RT(R/T factory stripes) even if it had the SE badging and options on it it isn't a SE as well as an RT? So the car in the link below looked exactly like mine except a 4 speed and of course I don't remember in 1980 how my car was vinned other than the V calling it a 440-6 pack. So your car would have been a JS29 for SE but in 71 and  they used JH23 or JS23 for SE(same as hardtop) while the 1971 ordering guide  called it out as "JL21" which is confusing. Either way a RT/SE badged 1971 Challenger is pretty rare.
