GT350 air cleaner

This is a piece I don't think I've ever seen discussed. So did the air cleaners change at all during the model year? Second how were they painted? Were they all blue or was there black on the inside where the filter sat? I'd like to see some pics of original air cleaners if possible including their crimp nuts for the snorkel screws. Thanks. As far as I know, they are the same as any 4V 351 Windsor. Same Ford blue color, and snorkel.

Am am not aware of a change during production for the air cleaner base and snorkle. If there was I would like to be enlightened . I have seen black in the center . It seemed like a mask was used because no hard edges . The black did not extend much if at all to where the filter was seated.At least on many I have seen.

I thought I'd ask on the production change as I have not seen any. I do have a few air cleaners that look alike BUT one has round and not square snorkel nuts. The inner black I've seen on NOS 428 units but was wondering if on 351/390 units. My original air cleaner(got 2 that look alike) I'm getting ready to restore and want to do them right as the one on the car was the best base when I restored it 25 years ago(have some pitting on my original on the inside bowl). Thanks guys for the insight. I'd still like to see some pics if any have them of original units.

Also I'd say a 390 non shaker also. To be clear not all 351 4V are the same. The late year shaker option got you I believe to be the smaller diameter CJ one and that is why a 351W shaker snorkel is longer and very rare.

Your question was about a GT-350 air cleaner, correct? Not about Shakers. I'm quite sure you are correct on your above comments.

I tried to find the thread from long ago but to no avail that showed the bottom under where the filter sits was painted black. Like Bob said they had no hard taped edges. I duplicated the process even though you can't see it when installed.
