I have a brand new still in the original packaging copy #32 of 33 the Premium Publisher's Edition of Shelby Cars in Detail.
The design detail for the clamshell box presentation is CSX2026, first Shelby to win a race, and first to win a National Championship.
Carroll Shelby leads six legendary Shelby American team members in signing this book. Joining top drivers Mario Andretti, Bob Bondurant and Dan Gurney are three men responsible for the design and development of the cars: Peter Brock, Chuck Cantwell and Phil Remington. Inside the clamshell box the interior and the book itself combine to evoke the distinctive cockpit and interior of CSX2026.The unusual drilled panel that separates the trunk from the passenger compartment is the feature that makes CSX 2026 so distinctive. This feature has been included in this iconic book.
The red leather of the clamshell box curves over the sides and meets the aluminum panels to suggest the way the painted bodywork curves into the cockpit. The front of the leather-bound book has been debossed with vertical lines that recall the stitching on the car's seats.
