Door armrest removal

I need to get my passenger side door panel removed to fix the door handle.  I need to remove the armrest.  Problem is I need to remove the decorative buttons.  Clearly they have never been removed and I'm trying to not butcher it up in the process.  Any tricks I should know about?

The caps with the woodgrain press onto the base.  Take a plastic credit card and use the edge to work into the small gap (at a corner) and gently pry the cap away to reveal the screw below.
