I have actually tagged BaT on auctions  offering my services when I retire to write their descriptions for them as it appears those who they have hired do not know what they are doing.

Yeah statements like those will confuse the people who dont know anything about what they are bidding on.  :o

I find it hysterical the bidders are so focused on matching numbers. But, wait a car without matching numbers comes up and there is not a peep. Even when most of the tags are reproductions.

..and no one seems to care if any or all the metal has been replaced? Its never even asked and when it is, all the owner has to say is, thats the way I got it!

Had to go through several iterations with them on the description of a car I sold on there recently.  It was an exercise in patience restraint for sure!  It seems there are so many writers and huge inconsistency from one to the other.

yes. I wonder if it was painted gold at one time? Another donor body? It is a question that should have been asked by bidders but if I was a bidder I'd be asking all my questions by email which I have done some times for friends that were interested in a car and other times they wanted me to ask point blank in the comment sections. That is what the morons like "flush" don't get. Not everyone posting comments  are bidding of course but some are representatives of bidders or possible bidders. He attacks but has never ever posted anything of value to an auction. They are the true "peanut gallery".

How about the trunk hole covers for the tail lights? It the last pic the one shown is white with a gold painted trunk. Earlier pics of the car done the covers inside the trunk are BLACK. The process makes no sense.
Pics 147 and 146 the black deck lid bolts have metallic gold centers.... OK what about dated sheet metal in the trunk? One piece is dated 2 15 W3 and the other is 1 11 C3  pic 157. Would that be too early for a actual May 2nd build ?

To go along with the previous post I think most buyers would be very surprised if they knew how many parts are missing or installed wrong on a large percentage of Shelby's after 50 plus years. That is even on ones that have been restored one or more times.  I am not even talking about Div I or Thoroughbred or even Div II or trailered concours. Just because a car has been restored doesn't mean it was done to assemblyline standards which of course is the standard that most informed buyers desire to be done to. The car may have good workmanship but that is all for naught if the restorer is not up to date on Mustang/Shelby assemblyline build techniques. Just because it looks pretty doesn't mean it is done right. We freely help polite enthusiasts and restorers all of the time on this forum with many answers to build and part questions but I am sure it is only the tip of the iceberg of questions that need asked and answered . With the best of intentions there are many questions that those same people aren't even aware need asking. They don't know what they don't know. With all of that said it is a crap shoot every time on these auctions IMO without accurate background info.

An eye opening statement, but unfortunately, not the first time I've heard it, dating all the way back to the late 90's where sellers would remove "correct" parts, and replace them with "not correct parts" when selling a high ticket "concourse" item. Sadly, I've personally experienced this from people you would never expect it to come from, even after I voiced my concerns to the broker who put a deal together for me.

I would expect the wrap around support on this car. Needs a close examination in my opinion, the Gold paint is troubling

Guess that is just part of not being "matching numbers"  ::)
