Thank for posting. An optional gear spread from a GM T-10 C-1 would require an interesting 'main drive', the .490 lift camshaft, a Don Sullivan profile (?) or perhap Jack Engle (??), seems low even for 'back in the day'. This carb was widely used on pre-65 FE's, seems it would be sluggish 'off the corners' for a 289 CID.

But what about the homologation with the Holley LIST 3259 carb? Would this 780 carb have homologation issues? Maybe not because the street cars got the racing suspensions and the engine could be modified.

List 3255 Carb was the cheater carb. looked just like the 715 , doubt any tech guy back then would have looked that close

When Phil Gallant purchased 5R212 from Ed Recknagle , there was an early '65 dated C4AF DA on the original R model intake. Ed did not have a 3259 with a '65 date except the one on a '65 street car he also had. When I was gathering all of the parts for Phil , I assumed that was the carb "from the day" knowing it was listed in several places as the "optional" carb. Since that was '99 , it "might' not be the original but I felt it was. one of the first races for 212 was Daytona where a big carb would help.

According to Bob Mannel, the C4AF-DA was used on some '65 R models.

I don't know what other engines besides some FE's that they were used on.

Mustangtek shows the C4AF-9510-DA, Holley list 2919 also for 64 1/2 427 Ford HiPerf.

Check out BLP in Florida. They are a major supplier to the Nascar guys and can build a Lemans bowl center pivot Holley in the concours colors, with or without choke, (I go without choke - much improved CFM). the have their billet metering blocks in the original Holley color. Frickin great carb.
