Seller is obviously uninformed . They are not 60's vintage wheels. The first clue he was uninformed was calling them 68 given ten spokes were a 67 Shelby wheel that came on a small few 68's from the factory when it was discovered that the wheels would not clear the new for 68 single piston brake calipers. The second big clue was the non tapered spokes . There is a extensive list of other reproduction tells also.

Those are also machined on the inside of the wheel. Originals are not and left as cast.

Those wheels are in fact better then the originals, but they are reproductions, not originals.

Most likely better aluminum ,machining etc. That same thing can be said for many other replacement parts that evolved to be better in ways to original. For historical accurate restoration that makes those evolved parts less then desirable for use in that historical context because they look different. The best reproduction parts may use modern materials and process's but look like the assemblyline part..

Agreed but on what '68 are any of the 10 spoke wheels historically accurate?

The grey color of the casting on the two is different but that is limited to between the front of the spokes since the rear is machined on the repro and not the original.

Also I don't know of anyone who can accurately replicate the original finish once an original is stripped down and restored.

The originals had a thick clear coat of something on them that would eventually stone chip and turn yellow.

In speaking to Jim Cowles about this he didn't recommend attempting to clear coat them. He said that the ones he had done would fish-eye and he thought it was because the restored wheel couldn't be clean enough to avoid reacting in that manor.

Apparently that's a secret that no one has figured out yet?

Only on a few early production 68's got ten spokes from the factory but then the fitment problem manifested itself and those few cars after much grinding were then promptly shipped overseas. Those few would be the only 68's that 10 spokes would be historically accurate on.

Yes you do. I have done it successfully matching to a NOS wheel . I am relatively sure others must have too.  I am sure the clear that my painter used was different then factory but it looked the same or close enough when done. Also I acid etched the rough cast prior to coating. Yes it has to be very clean. I don't think they look as good coated or that it is worth it given all the effort it takes. but that is just me.
