What should the casting id be on a 68 GT350?

Some where some one is driving their collector car for the last time but they don't know it . Drive your car every time like it could be the last memory of it .

mine has a spec case

I think it is a WAR case but not sure now? I remember the casting date as 7M31.

Your car is a much earlier build date. Mine is 2/14/68. -01107.

My 67 '500 is a SPEC.

68 GT350 would be typically be a no "N" two rib case from the outside with the appropriate date code.

I don't suppose that you remember the engineering casting ID?

It would definitely not be a "WAR" case.   ;)

I think now it is a C4AW-4025-B casting ID?

That is the nodular iron case without the external N marking.

Curiously difficult to confirm. Like Schweppes being curiously refreshing?

Here is a situation where a smart phone with a camera would have been so desirable back in the day. So much of my photos are on slides from back then.

I recently sold one of these - the attached photos of it may be helpful

Thanks Bill. That is exactly what I thought, and yours date wise was really close to mine of 7M23.
The C4AW-B is the high nodular iron with no N.

Well,............actually, to be exacting, the cases cast as "C4AW-B" (in a singular line) are "N" cases with the "N" (earlier "bent-line" style); it's the cases marked as in the photo of "C4AW" first line, and 4025-B second line that are the no "N", "N" cases.   :)

And the same case is used on every GT500 and GT500KR and a host of other Ford and Mercury muscle cars of the time period.

I have one dated 9E that has no N on the exterior but has N's on the caps.

I have not seen the N caps on any other "N" case that has come up for sale. I guess I should just add...not yet?

I'm not sure what was exactly meant in the above statement?  Are you saying that the case that you have is the only example case (of any kind) that you have ever witnessed with "N" caps; or that you have only witnessed the no "N" type cases as having the "N" caps?   :-\

But I'll venture out with the statement that both the no "N" (C4AW-4025-B), and the "N" (C4AW-B) case both had examples with the "N" caps.  ;)  Now I don't believe I recall ever seeing the  DOOW-B example "N" cases with the "N" caps.   :)
