Hi all 67  fans,😎
If memory. Serves correct the first white car is 0018.

#11 was in fact the lowest VIN# white car, but not the first one actually produced.  #22 and #31 were both completed 1 day prior!

I own # 11 and # 17 as well as numerous other double digit 67s.
#11 and # 17 are the earliest 67 Shelby's that were white and had a Shelby tag.

Like car # 1, we know there's other vehicles BUILT earlier but had later Shelby numbered tags.

Something to consider is that there are, other vehicles with higher sequential numbers finished earlier (build date)  but most likely not started on earlier.

It would be beneficial to know what designates a first or second and so on car build, does a number assignment seal the deal or does building and completing a car on such and such a date take precedence?
I'm interested to hear!

The completion date at SAI / LAX takes the highest priority over the VIN sequence numbers.
It is our Theory the VN plate was added upon arrival of the knockdown units at LAX.
I don't believe the cars were started at that time.
As Tim mentions, #0003 (DMG) and #0018 (WW) were the first production cars completed on Day 1.
They included one of each color and both were shipped to Dearborn.

There are different ways to look at these numbers:

Lowest Ford VIN assigned (car order created on paper)

Earliest car built date at Ford San Jose (Milpitas)

Lowest Shelby VIN Number

Earliest Shelby Completion Date

Just like trying to show how "unique" "rare" a car is equipped (features on it) "one-of-one" or "one-of twenty" crunching numbers to other aspects of these cars is always going to happen.  With Shelby's the non-linear production shuffles provides some confusion and chatter.

I might be a bit biased...

But I'd rather have 1967 # 1 on the Shelby tag rather than #18 that was actually built before # 1..

But that's just me....
