Non-OEM Upgrades. What Have You Changed?

We used to have a thread like this on the old forum and I always thought it was nice to see what changes or upgrades some of you have made to your car.

Mine is a '67 GT350. I've added an exhaust with Flowmaster mufflers, new Koni's as of last week, an aluminum radiator (until I restore my original), Pertronix Ignitor and a Flamethrower coil. Not too much. Everything else is original or correct.

What non-original upgrades have you made to your car?

It would be nice to know/include for those reading what year and model as some up grades may not seem as upgrades unless you take the year or even model into account. A avatar my not apply to people who have multiple cars.

The only change that I've made personally was to add a halotron fire extinguisher. The list of changes the previous owner, John Barnes made is quite extensive:

1968 GT350 #2148
Boss 351 engine, 11.3:1 CR, Lunati cam, roller tip rockers, Weber 48IDA induction system with Shelby lettered intake, Cobra T oil pan, MSD distributor/MSD-6AL/Accel Super coil
Richmond Super Street 5-speed with 1:1 5th gear, Hurst Super Shifter
3.50 4-pinion 9 inch rear end with Moser 31-spline axles
Wilwood brakes front and rear, all suspension bolts are safety wired
Koni shocks all around
Lowering blocks/traction bars/anti-sway bar in rear
Ceramic coated headers, MagnaFlows, 3 inch dual exhaust with removable center section (I can unbolt from the header collectors to the rear axle and install straight pipes dumping out in front of the rear wheels for track use)

Inside it's got a Ford AM/8-track player, 200 MPH speedo, Cobra steering column mounted tach and 69 Mach1 hi-back seats (I also have the original seats), driver's side 3 point racing belts and some guy named Shelby scribbled his name on the dash with a sharpie.  :o

Outside it's painted Jade Green Metallic with a Boss 302 front spoiler and American Racing polished aluminum 200S rims with Goodyear F60/L50 bias tires (for show). For the street I have unpolished AR 200S one-piece aluminum rims with Cooper Cobra 235-60R15 radials. Much better riding than the bias tires.

Most of these modifications were done back in the early 80's

67 gt500,lots of stuff(mostly by previous owners)Ditched the smog, single 4 barrel and manifold(have originals)hurst shifter(have original)headers, turbo muffs, dual exhaust.am,fm cassette(have original am radio but they cut side panels in back for 6x9s ugh)14x6 turbo mags and radials(have 1 rusty mag star with a bald speedway 350 on it)probably due to sagging springs..had air shocks which I ditched...    ..Hey it's far from concourse ,and kind of a mess, but it drives well and is all mine and was only 6k when I bought it plus I love the damn thing!!! Trent.    Oh yeah it was also originally Wimbledon white but the previous owner painted it black/gold with lemans stripes which it still is...

'68 GT350, Stainless steel headers (have original cast iron) and stainless true dual exhaust, no smog and added Monte Carlo bar.  The rest is original or at least period correct :).

Its all back to original now, but, back in the day my 67 GT 350 got: Side pipes, Konis, an Accel distributor, 750 CFM carb, shaved heads with a three angle valve job, headers, Hurst completion plus shifter.  It ran a best of 14:56 with open headers at U.S.30 - out side of Hobart IN.
Late addition: Monte Carlo bar.  Even that came in a "Shelby Racing Co" box.  That is still on the car.

Boss 302 oil cooler adapter plumbed to 68 Shelby oil cooler. Big Canton road race oil pan. Takes lots of Mobil1. 8, 9 or 10 qts. Forgot exactly how much. You just keep filling it until it makes the mark.

Richmond (Doug Nash 4+1) 5 speed. Ford 31 spline Traction-lok with 3.50 gears Strange forged axles.

66 Shelby rear shelf. Functional brake scoops. Battery in trunk with Ford kit. KR hood scoop.

Extra rear leaf spring (a la Trans Am team cars). Under ride traction masters. CureRide rear shocks. Versalles rear disc brakes. 295-50-15 TA's.

Poly bushings. Upper A-s lowered 1-1/2". Ball joint wedges. Monte Carlo bar. 1-1/8" front anti-sway bar. Front Koni's.
67ish T/A team front (Big Ford) brake calipers, 12" rotors x 1.25" vented rotors. Earl's "Aeroquip" brake lines.

TA lower body cross member.

AC R12 changed to R134. 3" comp seat belts. Vomit bags for passenger hanging on roll bar.

I suspect I forgot more then a few things but the important thing to remember is it's all stock.  ::)

That's the way it came, except for the 10 spokes. Someone stole the hub caps. Bastards. ;)

You don't want to know about the nitrous bottle in the trunk right?
