1968GT500CS

Hello,  this is being sold as genuine original from 1968...I fear it is reproduction.  Experts? Any assistance?

Thanks in advance.

I'm used to seeing originals with pins on the back, but couldn't say for sure if they all were like that.

The KR emblems did not have pins.

I respectfully disagree, the GT350 and GT500 emblems typically have pins

Thanks, good to know.  I'm working on a KR now that needs one of these.

If ACSCO Products created the originals, and then continued to create the emblems for the aftermarket. Wouldn't those emblems be virtually the same? Tooling wears out over time, so there may be less crispness in the later emblems.

I am not aware if anyone other than ACSCO Products, that has made reproduction emblems. Anyone know?

There are (were) other companies producing these.

The reproduction GT350 and GT500 emblems typically have a raised gold snake which is not correct.

I dont think Drake was getting their supply from ACSCO

I beleive this GT500 emblem is original.  I do not know if the lengths of the factory Cobra Jet to the GT350 or GT500 emblems were different.  Some pics for reference

Stamping metal dies typically wear down and need repair. I'm not so sure about die cast molds though that make emblems and side marker bezels and such.

The picture of the Cobra Jet emblem in question looks to have the raised snake, (cannot tell if is gold or was gold on snake) when compared to the snake on the pic of the GT500 emblem I posted

For the original emblems

GT 350 / GT 500 were flat, chrome and black with pins

GT 500 KR was chrome/ black with raised gold snake no pins

To determine if the original posters emblem is original we will have to measure the size of a known original
