Were the wheels painted chassis black on the inside and backside of the rim and just the face painted champaign gold or was the entire rim painted gold?
I tend to believe the wheels were black and had the face painted.

Here is a picture of a wheel (front and back) with original paint.

Forgive me for being naive, but outside of the wheels having "KH" on the fronts (and I assume they all did?), what other identifications were there in terms of stampings on the correct wheels?  I have a few steel wheels that came with my car when I bought it, but they've been packed away for 25 years and I want to finally check them out.  Something tells me that they are not the correct ones, but I do vaguely remember seeing KH on them.  I also assume other rims not used on Shelbys could have had KH also though?  Thanks!

I have another question to add to this thread.

Were the 15" x5.5" and 15" x6" steel HiPo wheels used on the '65 Shelby's all riveted (centers riveted to outer rim)?

Thanks,
George

Most of the 5.5 wide wheels that I have seen are welded, rather than riveted.

When was the approximate change over to the 15x6? Did the wheel center remain the same as the 15x5.5 with large raised areas between each lug hole or did it change to the style pictured below?  It is a 15x6 Kelsey wheel dated, I believe April 10 of 65?  It is exactly the same as the 67 Shelby wheel other than the date code.

The 5.5 and 6 inch centers remained the same except how they were attached to the rim. The wheel you have pictured looks different to the 65 style steel rims I have seen.

Was the 6" wide wheel a C5ZX part number like the 5.5"?  Also, can someone post a picture of the beads of original 5.5 and 6" wheels?

That is not like the 65 wheel. The center is shaped different in scalloped area near the edge of the outer rim .

Yeah, I believe it came off of a '65 427 Galaxie, but didn't know if that was what the '65 Shelby 6" wide wheel looked like.
