I wonder who bought Hank's car. I certainly hope it will always be "Hank's Car" and not be restored or modified. Seeing the Clippinger Slalom plaque on the dash jogged my memory. When I was working there they had a salesman that had started a Corvette club and ran Slaloms at Irwindale Dragstrip and a gokart track in South Gate. I could only find 1 photo of an event and it looks like Hank's car and several other Cobras are set to pounce once the Vettes set their times.

Does $857k seem a little light for CSX2540?   About right?   I would have guessed over $900k.

Very low, IMO. That's a nice car.

I met Hank and saw his car a long time ago.  I believe I saw him at Indy back in the 90s and maybe also in Michigan.  Great guy and great story behind his car.  I never knew that he raced the car.  An interesting tidbit.  Ever notice how so many racers and/ or those in the automotive hobby live well into old age?  The cars seem to keep us alive.

Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Hank told me that he also raced in formula 5000 and Trans Am.

Overkill is just enough.

Looks like Sears Point. A few years ago Hank's trailer was stolen and that curtailed his taking the car to distant events.

Broad Arrow's website lists CSX 2159 as sold at $1,402,500.  This is big premium over CSX 2450.
I'm assuming there is more to the story here?  Don't know.
