This isn't Shelby related, but knowing that many members here are also involved with other FoMoCo car lines, I thought I would ask.

I am in need of a door power window switch for a '68 Mercury Park Lane convertible. But, this is not as straightforward as it sounds.

For starters,'68 Mercury switches are a standalone item, installed only on the Mercury and only in 1968. They do not interchange with any other year or car line.

Next, there are five different switches for the '68 Mercury application. They are:
C8MY-14529- A/B Doors
C8MY-14529- C   Station wagon tailgate window
C8MY-14529- D/E Power vent windows

I need the -A or -B. Neither are available in the aftermarket, so only NOS or used will do. Used switches can be identified by the engineering number stamped in white paint onto the side of the switch housing. The ID prefix is C8ME with the remainder of the number being the same as that application's part number.

Photos attached. Note that there is also a lockout switch with basic p/n 14540 and engineering number 14A695 - I do not need those.

I have extensively searched the internet and contacted many of the major obsolete parts vendors. I found one NOS; need another NOS or used. I will buy a driver door five switch used master assembly if necessary.

Thanks Pete - I called them (Dennis Carpenter in NC) but was informed it is out of stock. Oh, well... I will keep looking!

Bill did you check with Don Rush?

Have you tried taking the switch apart and cleaning the contacts? It's almost a regular Maintenace procedure on my 1960 Thunderbird and I have had good luck with other switches. Or is it just you don't have enough of them?
