The flip side is that for those of us who own "correct" verts, the high prices being paid for let's say "questionable cars", is of great value...

recent comment from the seller....."happy to do my best to be transparent. Honestly I was shocked how nice it is underneath as I never really saw it before. Really is a nice honest straight forward car"

"Its the nicest one (only one) I have ever seen"

Someone literally put it together with a spare road sign based on-the photos.

     Maybe another line was:

Looks to me like the only people really making money on this car is last 4 auction commissions in last 2 years. You would think the last 4 buyers would have fixed the car before reselling to improve it to make a little profit but instead the auction house makes money reselling it AGAIN!!

Can we please now debunk the "owned by shelby" story line.
There are plenty of cars that years ago, were titled in CS name to add a perceived value, yet CS never touched the car, or actually owned it.  ::)
Instead of being part of the problem, be part of a successful solution.

I think that it's great the members of this group try to inform and educate both buyers and sellers even if the seller doesn't listen. I attended an auction that was near my location and saw vehicles that could be described as sketchy at best. A member of my car club has had to fix cars people have bought at auctions.

Before the end of auction a few of us had been discussing many cars including this one on BaT through a group text chat that was started about a month ago. Me and 3 Canadian friends. We discuss Fords and Pontiacs mostly. One of my friends was asking hard questions and I bit my tongue on the auction to the seller's "outright lies" and the term was said to me from a FORMER owner of this car who will remain nameless at his request. No trunk pics? No lower rear quarter pics?Rear frame rail pics? Parts missing. Parts not installed right. The door jambs looked like they bondoed the rear quarter to B pillar so the quarter edge is missing. Too many vague pics but the pass door look like a foreign repo unit and the DS looks to be a 70. I got tired of the seller crowing about his "Stellar Reputation" and the "fact" Shelby owned the car and can you imagine him taking it out on a Saturday night to dinner. To put it this way a dealer on BaT told me this seller gives dealers a bad name. I'll leave it at that.
Then the kiss a$$es who crow about what a great car or the buyer got a great deal. Blah, Blah, Blah. Hey, as long as the new owner is happy that is all that matters. I wish he would join here as I reached out to him  saying the SAAC community would help him if he wanted it. In the end we are all here to promote our hobby and part of that promoting I believe is to help people not to get ripped off on scams, clones(rebodies), mis represented cars.

Lets see the car was appraised for 300K when donated. If the person who donated a car he bought for less than possibly 100K gets that 300K value in 2015 as a donation isn't that a little illegal? Not only that it was donated years after Carroll had departed this earth.
