Quote from: shelbymann1970 on December 04, 2024, 10:20:37 AMBefore the end of auction a few of us had been discussing many cars including this one on BaT through a group text chat that was started about a month ago. Me and 3 Canadian friends. We discuss Fords and Pontiacs mostly. One of my friends was asking hard questions and I bit my tongue on the auction to the seller's "outright lies" and the term was said to me from a FORMER owner of this car who will remain nameless at his request. No trunk pics? No lower rear quarter pics?Rear frame rail pics? Parts missing. Parts not installed right. The door jambs looked like they bondoed the rear quarter to B pillar so the quarter edge is missing. Too many vague pics but the pass door look like a foreign repo unit and the DS looks to be a 70. I got tired of the seller crowing about his "Stellar Reputation" and the "fact" Shelby owned the car and can you imagine him taking it out on a Saturday night to dinner. To put it this way a dealer on BaT told me this seller gives dealers a bad name. I'll leave it at that.
Then the kiss a$$es who crow about what a great car or the buyer got a great deal. Blah, Blah, Blah. Hey, as long as the new owner is happy that is all that matters. I wish he would join here as I reached out to him  saying the SAAC community would help him if he wanted it. In the end we are all here to promote our hobby and part of that promoting I believe is to help people not to get ripped off on scams, clones(rebodies), mis represented cars.

Reading your Post, one guy popped into my head, that Pooky Guy that sells Fake Parts in Ford Boxes.

The "Stellar Seller" said : "I have been extremely open, transparent and honest with everyone I have ever dealt with. I earned this over a 50 year tenure as no one ever gave me anything I didn't earn. The shame of this entire situation is this particular car is 56 years old and for its age is probably one of the nicest cars I've ever had".Since I don't want to get into the warts on the BaT site I will here for anyone researching this car in the future. Please let me know if I'm off base on what I see.
1) rear quarters in door jambs are filled smooth indicating quarter panel replacement. So with quarters. Vert quarters are as rare as hens teeth. Repos? What type. No pics of the drop off areas to see if correct or not.
2) floors pretty much replaced. When floors are that bad chances are inner rockers are too. Were they addressed?
3) Doors. LH looks later 70. RH I've never seen before so must be repo.
4) No trunk light wiring
5) No pics of the inside of the trunk.
6) too many painted bolts and switches.
7) Missing tilt switch in A pillar.
8 ) missing smog
9)missing shifter seal
10)Vert visor header looks like crap(paint peeling?)
11) PB bracket bolted on
12)NAPA bolts for vert underside brace.
13)look at the rusty booster that came off the car
14)door plates mounted wrong and latch screws looked like they had the paint ground off of them
15)damaged A frame and crappy looking(not restored) lower area with NAPA spiral Rad hose clamp
16)Wrong hardware front valance and bumpers plus no valance blackout
17)DS headlight bucket damaged
18)Gold painted MC cap
19)Replaced suspension parts
20)spiral clamps on AC hoses, flex fan, wrong hardware on "smooth" fan shroud
21)Wrong horns
22)Painted hood latch
23)black painted grill
24)painted hood hinges and springs
25)Wrong battery cables
26)No heat shield or S tube
27)Wrong radiator cap
28)missing hood bumper
29) many painted bolts on core support and engine bay
30)inner hood incorrectly painted
31)Aftermarket Radiator
32)Aftermarket voltage regulator
33) Aftermarket starter solenoid
34) Export braces wrong paint
35)wrong coil
36) non factory wiring under hood
37)License plate bracket painted black
38)Wrong antenna
39)Rear Valance distorted out(?)
40)Ps side outer door handle screw isn't tight and painted(bottomed out?)
41) door speaker grill hardware incorrect
42) Window cranks appear to be "short"
43)no trim on brake pedal
44) door panel lights are not  working
45)Both doors appear to have clear glass
46)Door window and qtr window stop hardware in all 4 places incorrect
47)glove box bumper missing
48)Screw holding Shelby console to the main console body(indicates broken spring clips on center Shelby piece)
49)"Blood" on wiper washer switch knob and bezel
50)Radio bezel worn out. AM radio but door speakers mounted
51)Wrong screws radio bezel
52)Chrome wore off dash bezels
53)Visor bumpers are cracked and yellowed
54)incorrect rear view mirror mount
55)Seat back handles improperly clocked plus DS has some type of spacer??
56)Boot snaps incorrect or missing
57)sill plates "too shiny"
58)Door felt pop riveted and not stapled
59)too big of a gap between rear Valance and quarters which leads to possible quarter replacement?
60)no backup light gaskets
61)Cheap exhaust
63)Aftermarket trans pan
64) wrong plastic wiring clamps in engine bay

With more pics I'm sure I could add to the list plus there are multiple things in some columns. My point? Well if you haven't figured it out go read the red quote from the seller. So the car is on par with his brand new Coyote engine Cobras he has sold? Not a chance. Feel free to add to the list.
To be clear most cars at auction we can make a list for. Most cars are not perfect including my cars. The point is he hyped the car up still after the "issues" were brought forth to him. I'm thinking to do this car right I'd have to find a rust free 1969  6 cyl or 302 vert and cannibalize it for all the sheet metal this car would need to make it just a correct bodied driver. I'm hoping for the new owner that the car is  structurally good enough to enjoy as the paint looks really nice on it but the car has sold 4 TIMES this year alone.....

Must have had Stevie Wonder with him checking out the floors.  :-[  "Stellar Reputation"..  :o He has nothing to loose.

I posted the comment during that auction about the Warranty plate and Shelby plate on the DR door being in the wrong locations.  Also in my post was a comment about information in the 69-70 Registry regarding previous ownership (including a US Marshals auction!) as well as the donation of the car to the Shelby Foundation.  My hope was the seller and prospective buyers would take the time to do a quick read of the Registry because it clearly showed there was no personal ownership by C Shelby of that car.

Research is not happening over there

Its literally a history free zone

I cant believe the number of people who wont even read all the comments

And you know they dont read them because they are saying "nice car" after the cobble job is pointed out in explicit detail

"The floor pan is a piece of tin"

"why are you being so negative?"
