I have several old magazine articles featuring my car that I would like to post but I don't want to violate copyrights. Anybody have a guideline that I should follow to stay compliant? Thanks!

There are several people on the forum that have done nothing but post other people's pictures , so far no repercussions for them.

Is the intent here to prevent somebody from profiting from the use of other's photos and/or articles or to prevent sharing photos and articles, which have relatively low monetary value, with other like-minded hobbyists in an environment that money is not being exchanged?

I get it, some people don't want their material showing up anywhere without compensation. Most of those protect their data with encryption or at the least, watermarks.

When paying to use (non-technical) copyrighted data for commercial purposes, most of the money goes to the money collection service, not the actual owner of the data.

Side-Oilers

As the author and photographer of about a thousand car articles over the decades, it always makes me smile when someone posts an old pix or article of mine.

Yes, I understand the value of copyrighted material, et al.  But when used for good purposes (on club sites like SAAC) and not for evil (meaning: someone trying to sell something using my work product, without my knowledge)  that's the difference for me.

Just to be clear, I was not calling anyone out.

The information on my website is free and I try to credit the appropriate sources and get permission when possible.

I think there is a difference between sharing a photo and starting a thread, so you can post random pictures off the internet, not credit the sources or even have a basic knowledge of the picture.

As Mr Gaines says, just my opinion others may feel differently

Pete, your site is awesome, and has helped me tremendously with my KR and knowledge of '68s in general.

That's the type of "for good purposes" use that I was referencing to.
