Lot # 1060.1 This 1968 Shelby GT350 convertible is a Division 1 Level restoration was performed at Billups Classic Cars and has received multiple SAAC, Mid America and MCA awards. This Shelby is powered by an original J-code 302ci 4-barrel engine with an original Toploader 4-speed transmission and 3.89-gear ratio rear end. This Shelby received car no.1403 and was highly optioned with factory power top, wheel lip moldings, power steering, powered disc brakes, tilt steering, air conditioning, AM radio, tinted glass, deluxe interior, heavy-duty battery and tachometer. This Shelby is finished in its original shade of Sunlit Gold with original black deluxe interior and white convertible top. Only 404 '68 GT350 Shelby convertibles were built and only 214 of those were backed with a 4-speed transmission. Of those, fewer than 50 are believed to have had factory air conditioning. This car comes with two original Build Sheets, Elite Marti Report and copies of national judging sheets to add to its provenance.

"This Shelby is powered by an original J-code 302ci 4-barrel engine" ......................... Is "WITH an Original J-Code" the same as "with THE Original J-Code"?  Is that the Engine it was Born with?

Bob Gaines

It looks to be a very well done car from the pictures .I believe that I have judged that car before in years past.  The reproduction parts seen in the birds eye view of the engine compartment would seem to indicate the "done to DIVISION I standards was probably a typo or over optimistic opinion . SAAC DIV I and MCA Thoroughbred require mandatory deductions for any reproduction parts.

I'm guessing there is a relationship between this car and the 1969 being auctioned. The build sheets for the 1968 are pictured in that auction. Hopefully the new owners can get that straightened out.
