Anyone paint a Wimbledon white 65 or 66
Lately that was happy with the color ?
Close to original ?
If so what was the paint manufacturer and #

Spraying out samples now.

Thanks
Dominic

Something to consider is that it can be hard to tell the shade on a computer monitor given the artificial ranges of shade in each different monitor. I don't trust them for exact shade detail.

If you have anywhere on the car that you can match an original sample, I would do it.

Most 65-66s that I see are painted in a Wimbledon white that is not white enough (too yellow.)

I heard years back that there were something like 7 different mixtures of Wimbledon White in the PPG system.  Can only guess how difficult it would be to get an exact match these days just going by a paint code.

As DC-DD can tell you, I have "some" experience with automotive paint products in my past. As such, I can confirm what you have been told, at least as it applies to BC/CC, where you may need to blend into adjoining panels (spot repairs) instead of spraying an overall paint job. With modern day paint products (any and all manufacturers) used by automotive manufacturers, there are variations as to the mix used on any given day, or sometimes any given shift. Sure it is the same paint code, but when mixing paint, as little as an extra 1/10th of a gram of just one toner (a typical non metallic color has 7-9 such toners, sometimes double that for a metallic color), over the course of a 4-5 quart spray out mix, can make a difference in the final results. Modern day single stage polyurethane paint products used today will not spray out exactly like the original enamel/acrylic blends of the mid 80's and earlier, as the base product is now designed to be a low VOC, environment friendly material.

DD-DC  ;)  are you planning to spray single stage, or BC/CC ?
Are you attempting to blend in to an existing paint job, or expecting to strip and repaint the whole car?

Car is completely stripped off the the rotisserie and in primmer on body dolly .
So not matching or blending .
Right now just Spraying samples I am not ruling out single stage or BC-CC .
AS LONG AS THE COLOR IS CLOSE .

In that case your paint product supplier of choice can mix you what you need using the standard Wimbledon White paint code "M" . Asking them to use a digital scale, and being extra careful with each toner poured (again, remember, 1/10th of a gram makes all the difference), and you'll be happy with the end results.

Now, with that said, the color of the sealer used just before laying down color will have an affect on the end results. I recommend a white sealer vs a light grey.

Wishing you the best

Dominic,

I have used: PBG Concept Urethane Ename (Single Stage)
             #8378 Western Golf Cart White
             aka Wimbledon White

To arrive at this paint, has taken a lot of effort and tests and far as we are
concerned, it's as near to Wimbledon White, as one can achieve. We are quite
happy with it. Hope this helps.

Best,
