Shelby ramp truck

  Well I just joined this forum, I wasn't aware that I could until I was a member. I am wondering if anybody has any pictures of a Shelby ramp truck. I have found one that appears to be tribute, It looks good but I was hoping somebody has a picture or any info on one, or if any even existed, I am specifically looking for the cabover design.

I'm pretty sure this isn't an original truck, I'm not really sure there was one like this. I'm sure they didn't have aluminum wheels. Ford built this style of truck 1957 to 1990, most of the trim pieces to back date a newer truck were used on other trucks from the period. I would like to back date a newer diesel chassis to the older look so it would so it would be usable.

I think that is a modern rendition,but, there is a thread titled as "the haulers" under Shelby American history that shows many of them.

SA didn't have or use single car ramp trucks. Those started in the very late 60s as a drag racer vehicle of choice.
SA had a few single open car trailers and large car transport trailers - enclosed and open.

In one of my AUTO-BUY Mags, there was a Dealer that had a nice COA like that one that was converted to a Rollback Wrecker for just $59,000.  I was going to Post it here on SAAC to see if anyone would be interested but kept forgetting.  If anyone is interested, I will find and post.

By the general shape I suspect it is a '65 Galaxie 2dr hardtop but I have no idea as to why it is covered up.

I appreciate the responses, and thanks for the heads up on the hauler thread, there's some nice pics in there. I figured SA didn't have any, I have searched forever to find one and haven't been able to. I'm still planning on building one, unless I luck up and find a true ramp truck on a Ford COE chassis, I'll end up fabricating the bed.

You hear rumors of cars being hauled by SA and others on a space available basis. If they sent a truck to Detroit and it was coming back with an empty space they'd fill it up. With HM building stock cars back east and HM/Stroppe building drag cars in Signal Hill I wonder if it's something for one of those programs. That could also be why it's parked in the transportation area and not with the SA inventory. Stroppe was also running NASCAR but that was for Mercury - with Dave MacDonald handling some of the driving duty.

By the rake of the roof I don't believe it's the T-Bird. The '65 Full size Mercury has an identical roofline to the Galaxie, so I would say 98SVT - was 06GT's suggestion that it is a Stroppe Merc is a good one. Likely covered up to keep prying eyes away from proprietary build specs.
