1969 /1970 Shelby tail lamp harness cloth /friction tape

On a 70 shelby  factory tail lamp harness the harness, On the rear under the lamps & sockets  half of the harness,,  is wrapped in what looks like to me , a  1 inch cloth type tape with adhesive . Does not look like friction tape more like cloth and actually looks like the tape i use to use on my hockey  sticks back in the day,,, lol,  ,,,, or is it friction tape Any help and a source of what is correct  would be awesome, Thanks, Bob Wilson,
