Lets put in all the auction comments here:

  67 SuperSnake 2 million (!!!)
  another 67 GT 500: 300,000
  A 70 GT 350: $60500

I didn't get the numbers.  There was also a 66 GT 350 sold, don't remember the price.

I can add:  The 65' GT 40 roadster went to the "bid goes on" at Ten million.

And a 64 Fairlane Thunderbolt (automatic) sold for $225,000

"Bid goes on" is absolutely meaningless in most cases. They'd like you to believe cars are bid by actual buyers, but in fact are simply shill bids by auctioneers trying to artificially inflate prices.

If you had been sitting in the crowd like I was you would  have seen plenty of actual bidders for the bid goes on cars.

The prices you list include the buyers fees, right? I saw 6S061 hammer at $400K. From what you posted I assume the buyer's fee is 10%.

Hey Steve,

Yes, that's correct.  The standard buyer's premium at Mecum is 10%.  However, sometimes when you see Frank go into the crowd to work a seller, he'll drop the buyer's premium.
Nothing beats a classic!

Agree with Al on this one, many deals are made after the car rolls off.  Mecum, tthe buyer and sellers compromise on price and commissions.  Not just Mecum but many others do this. Ask me how I know.
