We watched the 500 mile '93 Cobra R with interest. Hammered for $120K + buyer's premium.  My wife and I bought two of them when they first came out, watched the prices run up decided to sell rather than stuff them away.  My big regret was passing on an opportunity to purchase STEEDA's '93 R Model test mule.  Oh, well...hindsight's clearer than foresight.

Random thought: the Corvette auction is going along just fine  ;D

I see they havent broken the long standing tradition of breaking for commercials during the best Ford cars!

Anybody shed some light on why neither the AL-bodied Cobra nor the CSX4XXX couldn't get to $100K? The '68 GT500 Conv. did and the Series 1 just brought $130K.  ???

In 2006, was a charity involved with the sale?  That usually send numbers way up beyond expectations.
Just nuts.

I think at that time, Sammy was giving away a bunch of swag with the car.    This time, Sammy's ownership is in the distant past.

I am in Scottsdale and looked at  it. Automatic, mediocre restoration, replacement block engine, repro VIN tag. Still weak money in my opinion. A good example of my observation that only examples without issues are going to command big money, as high end buyers typically shun such cars.

I also noted that the inventory at R&S has fewer high quality original spec cars of all kinds like we saw there in years past. This was the only genuine Shelby in their sale. Plus there is lots of modified stuff. This is being reflected in the prices.

Ouch, the owner of Hagar's car is $150,000 in the red. That's what I call a Red Rocker of a trade.
This car was behind ropes so hard to get a look at it, but from the picture board, if i recall correctly, there was not much original Shelby left on this Shelby. It had been modded out extensively with total replacement of the drive-line and a color change from blue to red for starters. Just my opinion, but even at $100,000, I would consider this car "well sold."

Tonight I saw a 2007 GT500 with 113 miles sell for $41K + fees = $45K.  This is a 12 year old brand new car.
Brand new car says it all. No race history for the breed, really not a CS car it was fully developed by SVT and had CS added to gin up sales, lots of them available (in reality compared to 60s cars), will need $100s in work to become a driver, those collectors who want a low mile statue in their collection already have one.
130 for the Series 1 did surprise me. They were never street legal as the DOT crash and emissions work was never completed. I suspect the announcement of a Series 1 kit car a few months ago brought this one up.
