I was at the auction and saw this car (with the hood up) Like Ed said it was missing alot of original parts.  That car sold for what it was worth the way it sat.

Red '66 GT350 hammered for $130K and, right after it, a Hertz went for $140K.  Kinda soft numbers.  Were there issues? I guess with that audience, had they been resto-modded, they might've brought more.

No mention in the write ups of original drive train or how much of the sheet metal was original in those two 66's.  You would think those things would have been mentioned if either was substantially original, so maybe that held those back.

The red GT350 doesn't have its original engine but all original sheet metal, except the hood, per the Registry.   Registry also mentions that there
was no indication that traction bars were ever installed but on the block, Steve M. pointed out underriders.    A pretty nice car, I thought.

Did others see the 1965 Mustang VIN 0002? It was at Mecum Indy in 2017. I saw it and the bidding got to $300K and it was a no sale. The estimate was $450-$600K.

...it hammered yesterday for $175K!!! That guy has gotta be pissed!!! It was no reserve, of course.
Nothing beats a classic!

Anyone have any more info on the 67 GT 500 #2560..Lot 1443.1..?  As usual, BJ cut away & left it in the bottom corner of the screen with no audio. Hammered at 275K with fees

I know you can look it up in the registry, but for others, we see it is a 411F - factory automatic with A/C.  (Z stamped too)
It is a beautiful, clean, and correct appearance car. Some older photos can be found in the NVSAAC photo gallery site.

I get the fact that it is a low VIN car, but it wasn't #001.  It is a six banger, stick, plain jane Mustang coupe.  Unless it is going in a museum or someone just wants bragging rights, I am not sure why someone would pay more $175k, let alone $300k.

98SVT - was 06GT

4 Boss9s in one sale. Too many for the market? Also 8 Ford GTs and 3 Heritage. Rare cars need to come up rarely to pull strong numbers.

Maybe true, except... ALL the Ford GTs at Barrett did fine...

Yep...I agree.
It's not the first car off the line and it's not a hot performance optioned car. It certainly looks sharp in the Dark Blue / medium Blue interior but it's #0002.
A museum might want to have it as a conversational piece on display, but how many are really going to want it for so much more $$$ than another equally equipped car for a ton of cash less?

I think you pay a hefty penalty if you pull out after finding out there are too many of what you have consigned for a particular auction.

Car hammered at $250k - period. Fees added an additional $25k. They're not the same. Conversely, the seller sold the car for $225k.

Not asking about that..curious about if anyone knew the consignor,  knew who the buyer was...etc...
