But it's only installed on a 67-8 GT500/KR with A/C. You have to get the FORD windlace and MODIFY it to fit the Shelby.

All big blocks with AC. The hole that is normally in the radiator support is enlarged and has sharp edges, hence, the windlace

No , just the 67 and 68 Shelby GT500's and KR's from the factory.

It was made by Hayden, now Fluidyne. Im sure there were other uses, but Im not familiar with them.

Fluidyne still makes them on a limited basis. I bought a dozen a few years ago. The new ones have wavy fins.

I am not  aware of another application but guess by the lack of availability on the secondary used market that they were obscure applications also. For those reading I wouldn't hold my breath thinking you will find a undiscovered cheap source for the genuine coolers.It may be out there but wouldn't hold my breath.  Many like Pete and I have had our ears to the ground for years. Some years ago a Canadian source was selling a pretty exact looking copy for cheap money . It looked great. The only problem was that once you received it you discovered that it was 1/3 of the size of the original . From the picture there was no point of size reference to indicate a problem. The ebay seller worded it in such a way that the size was not a good reason for a return. I still see those pop up every year or two. So you have to be careful of the deal that sounds too good to be true also.

More surface area within the confines of the outside dimension would be my guess as to why.

  I have actual hand written notes from the Ford "test driver" who tested four different oil cooler brands for specific use on 428 engines. I'll try to post a picture when I can.

I will be at Ford Carlisle next week with the cooler and adapter. I also have and oil pressure gauge with sender and amp gauge for a 68 with a video showing them working.
