I'm just taking a long shot here.  Does anyone on this board have a good relationship with an Authorized Rolex Dealer?  It seems there is a world wide supply shortage, and unless you know someone, you are out of luck.  I'm sorry this isn't car related, but I am looking for a 'Daytona' among other possibilities, so that kind of fits.   ;D

Thanks

There are plenty of gray market dealers that can help you out, but not at MSRP. To find a Daytona at MSRP would be next to impossible unless you spend multiple thousands of dollars per year at a particular AD.

Excellent choice. I've heard about the shortages. Good luck. Maybe try Canada. A smaller city like Winnipeg or out west.

I've considered using a grey market vendor, but don't you loose the Rolex warranty?  Crazy times we live in.  Not getting political here, but it's hard to say the economy isn't booming when they tell you every Rolex dealer In the country has little to no inventory. I had a choice of any stainless steel sport watch I wanted ( except Daytona's ) when President Obama was in office.  Just sayin....

We're back to the days of wristwatch inequality.    ::)

Go to Archieluxury's YouTube channel and ask him a question. He is the most hyperfocused guy about Rolex and Omega anywhere. If you can get by his coarse approach he is quite amusing as well as informative.

Found some YouTube's of his on the shortage.

Just finished one of the vids. He's a little cruel but entertaining.

Sent you a PM.  I made a purchase sales-tax free in Mexico from an authorized dealer.

I have no affiliation or any experience with this seller, but he has the one of the highest reputations in the Rolex community.

I've been looking at.  Nice stuff but at 1.5x-2x retail.

Brian,

There are numerous authorized Rolex dealers in the San Francisco Bay Area CA. I have my stainless Daytona serviced by Shreve & Co. in SF, an authorized dealer who forwards it on to Rolex in LA.
There is also Davidson & Licht in Walnut Creek Ca as well as Fortane' in Carmel (which is where my wife bought mine).
A black dial S series model 16520 all stainless from 93-94 (mine) also known as a "Patrizzi" now has more than tripled in value in today's vintage Daytona market since it was new.
If you are seriously looking for a Daytona by it from an authorized dealer only. Is what I would recommend.

Cheers,
~Earl J

Thanks, I was also told over the years not to travel abroad with it. They'll cut your arm off in certain countries.

I have had my Rolex Submariner serviced in SF. It was done my an authorized Rolex Service Center in the Shrive Bldg. on Post St. but not by Shrive & Co. Was on the second or third floor.

That sounds about right. Have a different watch for travel. That thing you have is an heirloom. Who knows what they will be worth 500 years from now nevermind their current assent in value in the present. Like the Indiana Jones bad guy said bury a watch in the sand for 1,000 years and see the relic hunters go crazy. Paraphrasing of course.
