Back around 1980, when I was looking for a Shelby, I looked at a '67 GT500 in St. Anthonys Idaho that was a red, auto with AC car.  Have no idea what the number was, but have always wondered where it ended up. Not 100% sure it was an original red car. It didn't have Lemans stripes. It was a very nice car at the time. I remember it had pencil beam headlights in the brights, and seems to me it was an outboard light car, but can't remember for sure. i have a picture of it somewhere. The owner told me it was not the original block because a previous owner had been running it with just water instead of anti freeze and they forgot to winterize it. It didn't like the cold Idaho winter....

The majority of GT500's with AC where late built cars which also means they most likely were outboard also.

Recently, I've befriended a young man of 23. Great guy who didn't grow up in a car family. However, his Grandfather restores classic cars (82 years old and still going!).

I met this young man for coffee the other day, and he asked for a ride in Black Beauty. I said, "I'll do you one better. Do you want to drive?" The picture below tells the story.

To date, he's driven it 3 times. Start 'em young!!

Thanks to Frank and Clay Kennedy (and their AC man, Paul), Black Beauty's AC was charged today, and the AC system runs great!  Woo-hoo!!  It's already gotten to the upper 80s here in San Antonio this year, so the timing of this couldn't be better.  All the AC work had been done previously, and I was waiting for the weather to get warmer before charging the system. 

I've seen others (including myself) ask about the performance of the stock style AC system on a 67 Shelby GT350.  I have to tell you, it's great!  It blows MUCH colder than I had expected; which is an incredible blessing.  The in-dash setup is REALLY nice.  And, during the process, it was identified that the clutch on my radiator fan was pretty much shot.  So, we changed the fan clutch, and now my car runs cooler than it ever has - even with the AC blowing on max!

Great day today working along side some great friends with great results!

I did 134. I updated all the original components with new original style pieces and hoses; which are built for 134.

Can you post a picture of the engine compartment ? It would be nice to see what the new original style hoses ,dryer ,compressor etc. look like under the hood.  Glad to hear it is working up to your expectations.

Sorry for the delay on posting. Here's a pic of the new AC components under the hood.

I had the concours correct spark plug wires, but they pulled apart easily. So, I went with aftermarket 8MM plug wires. 👍🏻

Just in case you are not aware the Cobra intake used on the smog cars are ether the S7MS or S2MS that have provisions for for the coil to be mounted on the intake . I only mention this in case you are not aware because you have gone to the trouble of trying to make many of the the highly visible things in the engine compartment assemblyline correct . The coil in the wrong place is highly visible on top of the compressor but it is more accessible.
