Hello Everyone,

Here are some photos of 427 Cobras and a 289 Cobra that are remembered as "royalty" in the history of the RMVR vintage races that were held on the streets of Steamboat Springs, Colorado from 1984-1998.  The first photo (1986) shows CSX3261 owned and driven by Chek Beuf on the left, CSX3274 in the middle owned by Dave Murray and driven by Bill Murray, and CSX2226 on the right which at that time was owned and driven by Dave Lipsky.  Bill Murray won the race in 1984 driving CSX2226.  He sold the car (CSX2226) to Dave Lipsky who won the race in 1985, 1989, and 1990.  Bill Murray won the race in 1986, 1987, and 1998 driving CSX3274.  Bob Bondurant won the race in 1988 when he was invited to drive CSX3261.
The second photo shows CSX3274 as it looked in 1987.  The third photo shows Bob Bondurant in CSX3261 after winning the race in 1988.  The last photo shows Bill Murray in CSX3274 on his way to winning the race in 1998.

Here is 3017, the Supersnake twin Paxton car before being painted back to blue for the BJ Auction  where it sold for $5.5 m. It was black when we recieved it and had a whole 3 weeks to get it done for the auction catalog.

That is CSX3015 not 3017

Were Aeroquip fittings available and used back then?

If not, was it just steel fuel line?

2112:  I don't know if such A/N fittings were available back then.  (Doubtful on the braided stainless line.)

I kinda think the silicone spark plug wires were not.

Looks like that driver's side carb is running a little fat.

We also painted 3017 quite a while ago, which is why my other post had that number, had them confused!

    Yes, I believe Aeroquip Fittings were available (back then) but more of a borrowed product from the aircraft industry rather than product marketed so directly to the automotive racing scene as took place later.       

    But those are definitely more "modern" Holleys in place!      :(

    Although the use of the Edelbrock X-F66 cross ram 8V intake was what was available "on the shelf" at the time to execute the desired separation of the two Paxtons and their respective cylinder responsibilities, it unfortunately does not provide an even spacing of intake valve actuation events to each individual plenum, as would a true 180° intake manifold if it were utilized; otherwise one would/could apply a 180° "Flat" crankshaft to "fix" the intake manifold shortcomings.      ;)

    But then,........... it's just not a perfect world, is it!      ::)

Some of these cars seem to have had so many previous lives, it's difficult for me to keep up with them.

My memory of it was when it was apart in the "body shop" in CA, and still "owned" by Jim Webb. I remember it as Guardsman blue, but memory, like youth and hope is fleeting.
