Looking to ship a palatized bare block. Weight is 240# pallet is 28"x28"

Rhode Island to Tacoma. Need lift gate residential pick up, but I can pick up at terminal here in Tacoma.

Suggestions appreciated

Used Fedex Freight last time. But have to pick up at their warehouse. They have a forklift on their end of course.
I think it's cost prohibitive unless someone has a commercial account. Block weighed less than yours.

I realize you said you need tailgate but if they can drop it off at a location Fastenal  shipping is usually 2/3 of the cost of everyone else. We are ship motors cross country for $300 or less

Thanks for the suggestions.

I will see if the seller can drop off at Fastenal (Bolt/fastener company, correct?)

Michael, I have shipped several bare blocks across country.  a bare block weighs 200 lbs. I always hand trucked it to my van... leveraged it in...laid it on the pallet...and built the crate around it ...took it to the shipper..and myself & a friend picked it up & set it where they wanted...it was a courtesy to the purchaser that I handled my end of the shipping responsibility.....Rhode Island should do the same... just my 2 cents...

Knowing most freight handlers are less than careful with loads they themselves don't own, I would purchase a Scribner engine case. Your over all weight  versus a constructed wooden box/pallet will be less, the containers are very strong and resist the common "gorilla activities" of freight shippers.

That's not a crate... this is an engine crate..

Considering this was built for my original serial numbered engine I spared no expense.  The frame was 2x2x.125 square tube and it was covered with 3/4 Fir plywood.

The expectation was that the Mensa forklift operator(s) at any given cross dock could drop it from a height of the average semi trailer and there would be no damage.

The engine was irreplaceable.

Shipped using engines direct freight from Plentywood MT to Vista California and back 631.14 return.

Well, it appears Fastenal is the best price. Unfortunately, they won't insure a bare block unless the pallet is converted to a crate. They also need you to bring it to them.

Seller needs $300 to do those things so it seems like R&L is the easiest route.

Just under $700 to ship a bare block   :P
