Hi,   Everybody I know it might be early but I'm thinking about Spring and Summer already.  Just trying to figure out what events to attend.   What events as a group would like to go to.  Is anyone interested in doing another group driving event this year?  (I had a good time on our last ones) Or maybe have an show of our own.  Well just some things I've been thinking about if anyone has anything to add feel free to

Hope to see everyone soon

Chicago guys,
Is there a yearly Invitational Concourse D' Elegance in Chicago ?
Or, Invitationals in the northern Indiana area's ?
Thanks in advance,
John

They moved the Chicago Concours and "projected" a Concours on Northerly Island (old Meigs Air field on the lakefront) but gee, it has been 3 years now and nothing.  Likely because some palms in Chicago need to be greased (like every thing else).
There is a new (this year) Concours connected to the Studebaker Museum in South Bend but, after looking over the desired cars, no classes to fit anything like Shelby Mustangs.  You might be able to stretch a Cobra by the rules as they seem to have "English/European car classes.

Thanks guys.
Chicago, crazy what they do to themselves up there.
An Invitational is nothing to fight over, it is good economically and news wise.
They ABSOLUTELY do not get it though.
National guard should be brought in like our Pres mentioned once.

Not only gangs, but the whole political group needs to be drained into a septic tank.
I know, I live in Illinois.

If anybody hears of another Invitational, would like to hear about it.
Dan 353, they only offer 2 classes, kind of a shame, but the curator did
tell me that they were flooded with Invitation requests.

We have sent paperwork last week to the Studebaker Concour board in hopes of an Invitation
May expand to Ohio an Pa.

I'm in Chicagoland and there is a Concours D'Elegance in Geneva Illinois around August sometime. If I find the link I will amend this post to attach it.

Richard,
Thank you, they are having Mercedes and 70th year of SCCA celebration for 2018.
That still might be plausible .
Best regards,
John

I'd be up for a show and/or drive. I have an exceedingly long driveway. Could fit about 4 to 5 cars on it in a row. I could look into hosting a Shelby party at my house on a Sunday perhaps.
I am in the western suburbs of Chicagoland.

Richard E,
4 or 5 on each side, so 8-10. In that case we would need to make adjustments to the itinerary.

Sounds like fun, but, what about food and drink? In thought, Saltines and water from the hose may just work.

Would probably need a load speaker system so the emerging crowds can hear above the roar of the birds.
Perhaps a special city permit for the parade and fire control.

Sorry>> just been in a whimsical mood, can't stop laughing

On a serious note;
After following up on the tip about the Geneva Invitational;
found out that Larry Ballard is having a 70th SCCA party, and it is in with the Invitational.

Use the contact link deathsled provided.

8 to 10 cars would be great but my driveway is narrow though it is long.  It would be fun to terrorize my neighbors with a bunch of Shelby Mustangs.  Guy up my street is a gearhead.  Has a 50s Ford Fairlane with lake pipes red and white two tone.  I think it is a 57.  Along with and old Ford Falcon that is quite noisy.  Music to me. Horror story to others in the neighborhood perhaps.  Perhaps a venue like a park where we could spread out on the grass though I am certain palms would need to be greased for that to happen.  Food and drink?  Carroll Shelby's chili would be pretty much mandatory I submit.  Drink?  Non-alcoholic from a liability standpoint.  Illinois still has Dram Shop statutes.  Further, it is endangering to the cars therefore.  Always drive to protect the car.  That's my philosophy.  And then the side benefit is you protect yourself.

When we hosted COCOA BBQS the Cobras got parked on the lawn and the Shelbys in the driveway or on the street. The guy up the street is a die hard Chevy drag racer (Has an original COPO Camaro he bought new in 69). He was working on the Police Departments drag car at the time so burn outs were blessed and encouraged.

California- Birthplace of car culture and the go fast crowd. Gotta love it!
