Wittek made 2 types of clamps, band style clamps and tower style clamps.
Typically you see the band clamps on the pollution hoses however I've seem several examples where tower clamps were used. I have photos of 2 cars built in Nov 67 with these clamps. Not sure why or how long they were used.

Having had time to look through the pictures and double check believe you will find the tower clamp usage was typically limited to the hose that connected the back of the pump to the bottom nipple of the check valve

Both cars were 302 J code engines

Believe the earlier response applies to J & C codes also that year

If he has seen tower clamps on the delivery hoses to the heads on small blocks I've not seen that ever that I can recall on an unrestored car that wasn't played with and believe the engines had all the emission parts installed at the engine plant not the car plant.

Mike if you have seen this what are the assembly dates of the engines or at least the cars? Just for discussion

Car 006, buck tag Nov27, Marty build date Nov14, serial No.....5308, Engine tag 7-H
the other car 088, buck tag Nov21, Marty build date ?, serial No ....5330, engine tag?
Date on pollution canister 9-7-67.
Both cars built very close together. Photos of car 088 with tower hose clamps in My Gallery will try to move to this post.

You beat me to it, great conversation Mike!

I love the odd balls

Witness lines on the hoses could tell the tale

What witness lines? :)   Of course the example posted will have witness lines.

Mike, have pictures of the same example. Owner was not around when I took the pictures to ask where the clamps had come from. Did you get a chance to ask?

Looked at my pictures and found cars with the wittek styles on cars from
Sept 67
Nov 67
Dec 67
Feb 68
May 68

Of course now will be on the look out for more examples

This hose used one of each style clamp and I have included a close up of the tower clamp impression. I hope this opens the door a little on the possibility that tower clamps were used on assembly line cars occasionally.  I can't answer why this happened and don't believe either car were "worked on" after delivery.

My issue will be how to present the car and will the judging community accept the variations?
