Here's a few Dave Freidman photo that show the Carter Avenue building exterior.

The street addresses for the three separate entrances of this building were;
- 3221 'Shelby American Inc. Sales & Finance Office' / Showroom
- 3219 Carroll Shelby Enterprises / Goodyear
- 3217 unknown at this time

A while back, I made a rough overlay of the Shelby & surrounding buildings back in 1962-65 for another SAAC member.
It shows the relationship between the two Venice buildings.

This should also help you to understand what you find in various photos of the Carter Avenue building.

Yes, we are all very thankful to George Watters for sharing all those great photos (and to Kieth 'SFM66H' for spending an enormous amount of time scanning and posting each of them with detailed information on each photo).

I don't believe there are any threads that analyze the Carter Ave. building in detail. (I thought about it a while back)
Feel free to post your questions and thoughts on it.

From your above two (2) photos we see the backside of the building from the inside.
The far right window is near the outer wall, with the door entrance next, and the two garage doors near the center (of the backside) of the building.
On the other side of those two garage door is another (2nd) employee entrance door, two more windows, another (3rd employee entrance door, and finally another garage door at the corner of the building.

In the last photo, i'm assuming the "marine shop" at the right of the photo, is Oscar's boat covers? Seems about right from your schematic drawing.

Thanks for the awesome outside pics ... and your support in my project

Never saw outside pics bevor 8)

Was the factory at this time called Shelby American ?
(When yes so the term "Shelby American Inside" gets a hole new meaning  ;) )

First Fact: The Carter was not so a small building as i expected

Second Fact: My Frontside is the Backside of the Building  ;D :o ;D :o

Well i will modified my Skeetch and analyse more Pics from Inside first

I guess we will have some fun here with this historic Pics

I'm not with you on that one. I think the 'Oscar's Boat Covers' building in not visible in the photo with the 'Marine Shop'.
It would be on the right side of Princeton Drive out of view.

I think the Marine shop may actually be on Lincoln blvd.
There was a 'Surf Board" shop next to it (on the left, behind the trailer camper) as seen in this Freidman photo.

'Shelby American Inc.' was written on the glass entrance doors for both Venice buildings.

I agree with your first and second facts.

I've been trying to figure out when Shelby moved into the Carter building. Was it the same time as the Princeton building. (I suspect not)
The earliest photo or info I've found on Carter Ave is from late '63. The photo has the Daytona Coupe wood buck parked on Princeton Ave with the Carter building seen in the background. Parked on the side of the Carter building is the tractor trailer used to transport the race cars. The COE cab appears to be white, not the team Viking blue paint we typically see on it...yet.

We know he leased the Princeton Drive building from Lance Reventlow sometime around September 1962.

Ok, that's why I stated "I'm assuming".
