Why are some topics "locked"?  Can they be unlocked?  MK

When topics get out of hand or go way off base they can be locked or unlocked by the moderator who moderates that area of the site. Many times stuff for sale gets locked for various reasons. Going off on political tangents is a popular way to get a topic locked.  Gary

That is too bad I cannot tell America how proud I am of our president from time to time, LOL, just sayin....But as Jack Nicholson would say, and this pertains to some, "YOU CAN'T HANDLE THE TRUTH!"

See, my above statement will show you exactly what a "locked" topic is. I hope everyone likes my humor!

Do you have a link to the topic in question?

Some times for sale posts get side tracked and then locked.

Sometimes those discussions are very interesting. I understand the reasoning but This is the only site I have ever been on that does that.

there was a topic about a guy from PA. trying to sell a suitcase,  Someone posted a neat article about buying a cobra and the cross country trip that followed. I was wondering what the date of the article was?

MK, I think this is the topic you are referring to: https://www.saacforum.com/index.php?topic=6606.0

It is locked, meaning no further replies are allowed, and that may have been done by the Moderator (Bill) or it may have been done inadvertently or on purpose by the OP johnlatta. As Coralsnake mentioned, the OP can lock one of their own topics if they choose.

Although it's locked, it hasn't been removed so you can still access it. ~Kevin

Bill more than likely locked the topic because of cross talk on a "For Sale" ad.

Casual conversations are not permitted, as I assume it is not deemed polite to the OP posting the ad.
Only posts specific to the item "For Sale" are acceptable by the rules.

I think the only place you can have open discussions are in the "Up for Auction" posts.
