EXIDE 24F no longer has the mounting flanges?

Last time I was in Home Depot, I was walking by the batteries and noticed that the EXIDE 24F no longer had the lower mounting flanges on the short sides.  If that's the "case" (pun intended), I know of no other battery manufacturer left with the correct flanges.  Can anyone with a tie to EXIDE confirm this? Is there another manufacturer with the flanges?  If not, what could be done to secure a battery with no flanges using the OEM tray and bracket?

Ran into the same problem on 6S1802. I put a '67 tray and hold down clamp in it. Don't like it but what else is there if we can't get original style batteries anymore?

I am not aware of any with the mounting flange now.

If anyone finds one, please post it here. Don't go by old images on websites...there are plenty of them showing a case with the flange.

We do have a battery tray that will bolt in a '65-66 that is made and comes with the top holddown (click on the picture):

The Exide did have it about a year ago.  I bought one for my 65.  Haven't checked lately.

Brant, are you having good luck with the newly made reproduction AUTOLITE batteries? If so, do you stock them? I purchased from another supplier and mine failed in 6 months. I'd purchase another if you are having luck with them. I like AGMs in the trunk versus acid batteries. Rick

I searched high and low and found an Interstate battery at NTB (National Tire and Battery) a few months ago, but it was in the back of a row
of new 24fs without the flange.   My 'plan B' is to cut the feet off old cases (either Autolites or other brands) and epoxy them to my next new
battery.     Another great suggestion is to epoxy a strip of metal to the bottom and have it extend outward on either side by a small amount
to be able to curl it up to make a 'foot'.   Thanks to Kram350 on this forum for that.  Brant's toppers are always the nice final touch.

I would be afraid of the epoxy failing over time.  Back in the 80s I had the battery clamp loosen up and on a hard launch, the battery came out of the tray and landed on top of the alternator fan.  The fan chewed through the case and sprayed battery acid everywhere.

The clean up process took forever and I never felt confidant that I had neutralized all of the acid.  I was afraid rust was going to start showing up.  I wrecked the car a month later, so I never found out.

There is a new supplier. We should have more in in September. This is a real AGM battery as opposed to the last reproductions with the small battery inside the case. We are hoping this battery will be problem free and last longer than those others.

Yes, that could happen.   Also suggested are using two large band clamps around the battery, near the bottom, to hold whatever feet I decide to use.
Painted black, with the 'heads' of the clamps hidden, and few will notice.   I like the challenge of making it look OEM, at this point.

I had a regulator go bad and boiled my battery in a Boss 351. The clean up was painful and expensive, as acid went everywhere under the hood. I swore off lead acid batteries and have run AGMs in ever since.

Great idea! Very creative.

I am also using the Exide 24F in my Shelby. No flanges and it's about two years old. Because I have the heat shield and the Autolite top it's well hidden. I also have a 1967, which has a top hold down.
