It would be prudent for the next owner of this one to find some original vin to the chassis "before buying " ! That would be a really bad date " like finding out after the alcohol wears off; you wake up and find out you married the ugly sister by mistake " !

A common practice...But(big but)if you do it "right" you are likely breaking all sorts of state AND federal laws....Personally I prefer  real cars.... ::)

When I dinged the LF corner of my 66 I kept about a 10" section with the VIN so I could have some good welder butt weld it back in. I wasn't too worried as the car is registered by the SA# and it and the Ford# were undisturbed on the R side.
