Getting close to purchasing CSX4862. I have seen pictures of the engine vin tag and certificates of authenticity but the car is missing the official Shelby plate the is usually affixed to the dash. Would Shelby American offer a replacement and should this concern me? Here is a link to the car with pictures, thanks

Looks like that Dash never had one.  I think they were Riveted on so there should be Holes in the Dash. Also, the 4000 series may not have had them.

CSX 4133

The 4000's do have dash plaques, at least mine does. This particular CSX is far different from what mine is, engine wise, dash layout, etc.

In looking @ dozens of CSX4000 series there seems to be a great variation in the dash layout; gauges, material, glove box, etc. My only question is, how could I get the dash plaque vin number replaced.

A lot of the ones I have seen are loose and left up to the owner to install. For example I haven't decided where to mount mine. I could see how one could get misplaced or kept as a souvenir when a car was sold.

I saw a new series CSX8000 car that had a spring clip on the back of the Shelby American plaque. This plaque was clipped to the transmission tunnel where one section of carpet overlays another and allows for the plaque to easily be removed if desired but your car may not have that carpet feature.

Super nice looking car I hope it works out.  I assume this is an aluminum car?

I can only assume Shelby American Los Vegas has been no help.  It would be easiest to have a trophy shop make up another aluminum plaque . You would have to secure a example or even a rubbing and a picture of one to work from.

The VIN listed isn't a Cobra number. How did it get a vin of 6R08C220210? I don't know what an 08 is but the rest tells me it is a '66 manufactured at San Jose and it was a 289.

If the number needed to be finagled to register it, it's no longer a CSX car. The value of the CSX cars is higher as a result of the Shelby VIN otherwise it's down with the other replicas at somewhere around 50 OR LESS.

Not only that but applying a VIN tag to a vehicle from another car is fraudulent and it is subject to impounding by the local state authorities.

I see a BIG caution light here. I'd stay away from that one. Buy one with no questions as to what it is, where it was made and by whom.

It could be why Shelby LV isn't helping?

Do not buy this unless they hand you a title with the correct CSX#

Ask for a photo of the vin tag in the engine compartment.  That's the official tag. The one sometimes mounted on the dash is only cosmetic.  I never mounted the tag for 6045 but it went with the car when I sold it.

Check the cars on Cobra Country. You might find a better price there.

The dash does look odd. Does it have air conditioning? Are those vents below the dash?  I would walk away from that car.

Old thread I know.
The shock tower has the CSX number stamped on it.
This is a Superformance CSX car so Lance might have access to an extra dash plaque (which were handed to the original owners on deliver).
Wouldn't buy one of these unless you verify the shock tower stamp. engine bay mfr tag and it has the dash plaque.
