Cragar SS's on a Shelby ..... blasphemous!   (the Lime Gold '67)

I love the look of the '65 GT350 with the while steel rims.
Perfect stance / width / offset!
Only thing I would have done different was use Wimbledon White instead of the bright white.

This was the time it seemed a good majority of the early 65/66 cars with the exception of the black 66 Hertz cars ran with the competition front ends (R Model apron).

Jeff, did you take a pic of the 65 350(s) with the Boss302 or the one with the Gurney Eagle heads? I know I took them, but just haven't located those old box of pics. Nice you took a pic of Jack Schroll's 6S001 on the trailer.

Cheers,

RE: Day 2 and "wrong" in same sentence. Those were improvements. Fatter tires better handling different color and stereos buyer preference. Not a concours guy. Prefer that everyone enjoy their car to the fullest. Those "mods" are part of the history of the car and correct for it. Too many are becoming 100 point museum pieces. The only one having fun with those is the transport driver who sneaks it off the trailer 1/2 way to the next show and burns a little rubber.

Big +1

Anyone have pictures of the Cobra with the SOHC motor in it. I believe it was from Texas if I remember correctly.

don't want to get off topic, but Carter Gette from N.Y. had a cammer in CSX 3270. don't know if the car was ever in Texas,  haven't got my registry at hand. I'd posted a pic in the CSX 3000 thread.

There were "several" 'cammers. Carter's was just one of them. Ned is going to be the best authority on that. I heard of three. One in Ohio, Texas and NY.

Sometimes getting information on Cobras back then seemed like you needed the highest security clearance and asking questions would get very aggressive negative responses?

Having been in front of Carter's several times it seemed that the biggest difference with the 'cammer vs a good MR was the sound from the front of the car.

The first time I heard it I thought a 747 was trying to make a forced landing behind me. 16 feet of cam timing chains makes one heck of a unique 'racket' when you wind them up! 8)

Cobra Ned

We are aware of 5 Cobras that have had an SOHC engine installed: Bruce Waller (NY) put one in CSX 3022 in the early '70s. Another was installed in CSX 3208 in MI in '74. Carter Getter's 3270 got one back in '71 in NY. It took over 10 years for the SOHC engine the owner had located to get installed into CSX 3305 (CO), but it didn't occur until after the then-owner sold the car in the early '80s. And CSX 3331 had one installed by its original owner in WV back in the late '60s. At SAAC-1, there was a '34 Ford body mounted on a 427 Cobra chassis that had an SOHC in it. It was sold and built up into a stock 427 Cobra, but the chassis number was obliterated and no one has been able to ID what it might have originally been.

The body in white  was 6S001/  this is exactly the way it came to me to be redone 30 +  years later

I read somewhere years ago that the cobra in the movie "The Hollywood Knights" was CSX3285 and it had a cammer installed in it at the time. Was that true or just snake oil?

3285 never had a cammer, as best we know, but was in the movie. Installing one requires a lot of work, including removal of the longitudinal tubing at the sides of the engine bay, so it's not a casual swap that can be easily reversed.

The $10 grand (?) asking price also included a pickup bed full (10-12) of magnesium 427 wheels.

Duane Bowers Cobra freshly redone from it's Gumball Rally duty. He was very POed when someone leaned on the car and put a dent by the roll bar.
