Drag Racing!  How fun.  I'm so sorry I will be missing this convention.

Jim Herrud

Regarding the Track Day event at SAAC-43, the "Highlights" sheet says:

Quote
Open Track will have run groups on all three days of the convention. The Intermediate and Advanced
run groups will be allowed to have passengers. Forms and track schedule will be available in the
Downloads section of the website.

Anybody know what driving credentials qualify as Intermediate and Advanced? Driving schools? Number of HPDE events? Racing experience?

Thx,
Jim

Usually you pick your own run group since you know your/car ability.

Will there be a set max number(s) of cars per run group?  I would think at some point there would be more cars registered than a run group can accept....

Wingrider

Any updates on run group requirements or number of cars per group?

The "Run Groups" are color coded and broken into four (4) categories:

Yellow group; new driver, beginner/novice track driving experience. Restricted to certain designated SAFE passing lanes. Typically driven with street car, new to track car.

Red group; intermediate experience from driving open track events with NorCal, other driving organizations I.e. Hooked on Driving, SCCA, other track car clubs etc. typically driven with streetable/track car, New Gen Shelby, Porsche, spec Miata, corvette or better with race tires. This group gets filled quickly.

Green group; advanced open track experience, typically driven with track specific car not legal for street use.

Blue group; very experienced driver, ex or current race car driver. Race car

All track drivers MUST attend the drivers meeting every morning!!! (Not parade lap drivers)

Drivers can drive in lower driving groups unless otherwise discussed in drivers meeting typically, BUT
SCCA 43 being a SAAC event in conjunction with NorCal SAAC, SAAC Nat'l (as we refer to) will be calling the shots, so some details are subject to change.

Parade laps are just that...parade laps which will have restrictions as well in regards to passengers. Again in the past Sonoma Int'l Raceway has had an age limit to passengers even in parade laps. That may or may not have changed, check with registration the day of. Don't be surprised if there are restrictions. Just an FYI.

I did not see where I could select my run group choice during registration.

How/where do I select that group before the event?

Or- who do I contact to inform them of my preferred run group?

Thanks.

Is there somewhere that discussion is taking place about this event?  I'm not seeing very much across other forums and little to none here.

I'm looking forward to taking part but it just seems unusually quiet vs lead up to other events.
