Candlestick.  Phil Hill drove the 427 in A-Production and led the race until the car broke.  He was hounded by the winning 904 Porsche driven by Don Wester.  SAI had two GT350's entered in B-Production, driven by Leslie and ? (Titus).  One of the 350's won the class.  S&C and Hayward were the two biggest Shelby dealers in NorCal.  Tragic weekend as two drivers perished.

would this would be CSX3002 by my notes.

I believe this to be 5S307 ? "Orange Blossom Special" any guess as to where that was shot ? distinctive building, "Goldy's" ? in the

back ground

Mike

Looks like Goldy's was in Texas. The picture was taken late 69 or later because the front wheels are American Racing TA70 wheels which AR made for the 70 season and were not used very much because the Minilites were lighter and about the same price. I have an original AR catalog showing them. AR borrowed it to make a copy for their museum of their history. Ram Automotive was owned by Danny Moore and I believe that car may be owned by Forrest Straight who also owns Danny's Boss 302 TA car. Here's a link to it:

The car #169 is 5S445. I met the owner that raced it back in the 1970's at a vintage weekend at Waterford Hills July 2018.
Another great, very gracious owner willing to share his & car's history and experiences.
He drove the car in the "parade" pre-race laps but did not compete.

This is a well prepared, well raced, preserved, non-restored, car that captures the intended use - wear & patina of an independent competition GT350.

IMHO it doesn't get any better than this example !
