the same event.

"Orange Blossom Special" I think this is at Sebring 19?? looks like the Quintana '68 in the background. I believe there was a '69 or

'70 version of this car "Orange Blossom"  as well ?

Found it, it's a '70 Boss 9, was this one run in period, or is a more current build ?

Mike

70 B9 Boss 9 Orange Blossom is alive and well and raced in early mid 1970's 12 hours of Sebring and 24 of Daytona if memory serves.
Have seen in the flesh.

Nothing beats a classic!

honker

Shelby_r_b, thanks ! a lot of time trolling the net, and going through my stuff, of which my other half sez I have too much of  ;)

Lots of knowledge on this forum, we all contribute !  always neat to be able to solve a mystery, i.d a car etc together.

I believe this is CSX2009 that Holman-Moody ran at Nassau in 1962 & Sebring in '63, photo at the H/M facility.

You do what you have to do when you've forgotten the ramps for the trailer  ;D

2009 at HM's shop prior to Sebring....

honker

Thanks Kranky, caption to my post on CSX 2009 corrected ! checked my Holman-Moody book,  at first glance I assumed it was at

Sebring, because of the car # and the buildings, which are similar to the ones at Holman-Moody. I wonder what was going on in

that photo ?

That fulcrum point looks like it might be ready to cause some damage.

Not a Shelby, but a Mustang at Bonneville  ;)

That's distressing to see.
"Low she sits on five spoke wheels
Small block eight so live she feels
There she's parked beside the curb
Engine revving to disturb
She's the princess from his past
Red paint gold stripes damned she's fast"

Some great photos of Alan Grant & others with CSX 2128, what is the stadium you can see in the photo of the people riding on the car ? and who are they ? is that Shelby on the left rear fender ?

Mike

These are from Bridgehampton, New York, 1963. In the photo of the people under the ramp, ? ?  Miles...Shelby...Briggs Cunningham, probably his wife. The shot of the car on the lower part of the trailer, is this after the race, boy things are sure piled in there in a haphazard way  ::) It was different times, I remember reading about another race team owner who said they would park the rigs like this in motel parking lots, and never had any thing go missing.

Photo 2:  RIR?  Or, possibly Pomona?  Judging by the mountain in the distance.

Photo 3:  Dodger Staduim?  I don't think that's CS on the fender.

Roger Penske took one look at how those tires were loaded and swore "Never on my team!"
