I was rescuing photo files off a crashed PC and came across great detail photos 1968 Sebring Shelby racing mustang
the source is Revs Institute® Archives; Karl Ludvigsen Photograph Collection, (author of great book "The Inside Story of the Fastest Fords")

I note the TA dual 4V enclosure looks patterned after the MK-IV 427 design..... a bit of crossover??

This might have been here before ? I believe this is a '66 GT350 with crew Gilles Vincent & John Catto, in the 1966 Shell 4000 Rally

that  ran from Montreal,Quebec to Vancouver British Columbia.

First they tried aviating, then they tried to eat a calf, and finally ate a deer, and had numerous flats  :o  ::)

They got the car patched up and continued but were eliminated by exceeding max allowed time.

Talk about perseverance ! !

Does any one know the number on this car ?

An endless task  ::) sorting the unidentified pics in my files , who is this in the Falcon ? I think in period, looking at the cars in the

background. Could it be at Kent, Washington ?

Not a race car, but at Daytona in '69. Must have been some promo vehicle for lights, Maybe Cibie ?

How much power would those draw, and what sort of electrics would you need ?

Just the thing for running those dark desert highways looking for the Hotel California   ;)

I had a friend with a '66 GT350 that had aircraft running lights in the grill, you could see into the next county when he turned them

on  8) I can't remember now what the electrical on that one was.

That's very interesting photo.  I have no guess, except maybe a Ford Motor Company lighting test.  Why at Daytona and not at the Proving Grounds?

That's quite the rigging for mounting the lights.  However, the height of the lights are all lower than the Mustang's stock headlights. So, the results of the test wouldn't correlate exactly to how they'd do at the correct (production) height.  I've done a lot of lighting comparisons over the decades, and height matters.

Notice the orange signs standing on end, in the background.   I can read PORSCHE on one and LANCIA on another. Can't make out what the third reads.

A ha, I do now have a guess:  A test mule for lighting setups for a Daytona race car.  That makes the most sense to me.  That needed to be done at Daytona.

I've seen a similar photo with a 66 GT350 with light test rig, also at Daytona if I recall correctly.

The height would likely align with Ford GT-40 or any other current FIA chassis?

My photo taken at the '68 Trans-Am race at St. Jovite, Quebec of the Gagnon Spring Mustang.

Some one on another forum asked me if this is one of the Shelby built cars ? I'm thinking not ?  Any one know ?

re: my post above, found another photo (not mine) in my files, same car different angle, also at St. Jovite Trans-Am '68.

Also some info that (SUGGESTS ? ?) this was a Shelby built '67 Group 11 notch, and that the car was destroyed.

From the 2011, 4th. edition, 65-66-67 registry, 26  1967  Group 11 notches were built, 10 of which the present where abouts are

unknown.
