Wiper arms on 66 GT 350’s

What wiper arm is correct? Both cars in question are 1966 GT 350's, one  produced at Ford in November 1965 and the other delivered to SA in March 1966. What arms are original, chrome  or brushed finish wiper arms,  bases flared or non-flared? Thank you,Paul

"Brushed" (not shinny) with the flared base section



Some may notice that when the stripe was applied the post on the passenger side was not tapped off (except the knurled end where the wiper attaches) so it got painted also

The change to satin in 66 was a federal thing. It started with job 1 on regular production Mustangs and SFM6S253 on 66 GT350.  From a concours stand point you have to be careful cleaning the satin stainless because if you rub on it too much it shines up and stands out as non assemblyline. If you don't care about originality then it doesn't matter.

This topic has also been on the Concours Mustang forum in the past.  I've seen several accounts of original early production '66 cars with chrome/shiny wiper arms. Federal requirements can also be effective January 1st.  Do we absolutely know this was strictly a job 1 changeover?

All documentation I have seen indicates that it was . With that said SA slipped some 252 cars in that were not supposed to have them so I think that it is likely that other anomalies exist.

If the wiper arms were taken off to paint the Hertz stripes, could the arms have been replaced with polished ones with chrome pivot?
Own SFM6S1624, Black Hertz Automatic built 3/66 now concours trailered restored by Ken Degenstein. Former owner of 1042 a red Hertz automatic and 1643 a black automatic Hertz

Extremely unlikely. You have to ask yourself why would they change them and where would they get them from? The 66 models came with the satin because of the law .
