Hi there I found a 1966 GT350 in a barn today.  Its been sitting since 1972.  Im looking to verify the Vin and Shelby Number.  I hear this is something you do?

Hi Motortribe,  When you feel comfortable, we would love a picture of two.  We might be able to advise with just a few images, overall view, engine compartment, firewall, undercarriage by differential.

Best of luck

Please consider that the Ford and Shelby VIN are only one part of the overall verification process but a good place to start. Plenty of prior threads on the subject so have a little read to protect yourself and get on the right track. We're here to help but as Pete wrote there is a bit of a give and take and don't except to show up - unknown- and be given the "golden decoder ring" right off the bat

Call or email Howard directly

Howard is definitely the first and most important person to contact. His email is saachp350@gmail.com
The Registrar is always the first person to contact.
Everyone: please take note of Howard's new email address.

Hi there I found a 1966 GT350 in a barn today.  Its been sitting since 1972.  Im looking to verify the Vin and Shelby Number.  I hear this is something you do?

My recommendation:

1) Contact Howard with the Shelby Number and Hidden Ford Vin number to see if it is in fact a 66 Shelby.
2) Before you purchase it, take a bunch of pictures and post them here to get expert opinions of the good and bad.
3) Before you purchase it, ask for someone that has a know reputation (Howard and others can help you with that) to come and inspect the car and give you their expert opinion of what you have found.  There will be a fee for doing this but well worth it if you don't know what to look for.  The incorrect trans alone could cost you $7500-$11K depending upon the style.
4) If you do purchase the car, get involved here and with the SAAC and enjoy the journey :-).

It is recommended that you NOT post/share the Ford VIN on the internet (this or any other forum) only with Howard.
