Can someone please help me?  I have been trying to find part numbers for the 1966 to 1970 Shelby side scoops. I have also been trying to figure out the parts numbers for the inlet, hose and outlet for the air vent brake system.  I would like to more about them parts.

if there is somewhere where I can find that information or if I can buy that information I will.

was the hose between the inlet and outlet on the brake vent special ? and the clamps used on that hose ?  or what held it in place

Also was there a difference in part numbers between the  functioning and non functioning brake vent scoops.

There are multiple '67 Lower side scoops as not all cars had the ducting, not sure on the part number issue for those.

The cars that did have ducting - there were no clamps holding the duct "hose" to the ends - riveted.

The upper scoops are not the same as on '68's.  There were some that had lights that worked in conjunction with the tail lights Brake and turn functions.

There are threads on this forum that cover some of this, use the SEARCH function in the upper right on the home page and it will help you find existing posted info on these

What car number are you working on??.

one last question, I bought 1969 Shelby Scoops and there was an inner housing for brake ducting and if I look on eBay it shows hoses for that inner housing. Can you guide me on any info on that.

The Going Thing

Branda's ducting kit is half-arsed. It uses a good copy of the fiberglass duct that rivets to the front side of the fender well, but household thin white plastic flexible hose for dryer duct.
The correct ducting can be purchased by the foot from Cobra Automotive. You can purchase just the duct by the foot.
Below is the front ducting kit. It shows the hose available. It's heavy-duty, waterproof, and black.  I saw the Branda kit installed at the shop that painted my Shelby. It looks terrible when you can see the courtesy lamp glowing in the scoop intake.

I thought about the front kit but there was no way I could invision it installed that just didn't create a mess in the front.

I personally envisioned scoops pointed at the front brakes like the Cobra's used. The hose just makes a mess.

That entire thought crosses over into what you might now see on a IMSA or NASCAR with essentially electric hair driers pointed at the rotors?

I had to drawn the line somewhere and say no way? :o


Incidentally, I DID see my front brake rotors glowing in the dark, and the smoke coming off of them always made me stop and look to see if I was on fire?  ::)

The 69/70 Shelby fastback used a inner housing that the convertible did not . The fastback used a different preformed rubber hose then the one used on the convertible. Both are reproduced. FYI some of the scoops were technically functional but no 66-70 production car Shelby side scoops were practically functional for the purpose of which they were described as being intended for which was brake cooling. The ones that moved air ducted it to the surface of the tire tread not the brakes. If you think that was beneficial then you are misinformed . They were for looks but some could be called technically functional. When the functionality was discontinued because it was extra effort for no reason in later 67 and 68 production the advertising value of functional no doubt made it practical to bring back the function for 69/70. The straw like air ducts for 69/70 were laughable at moving air but they were now technically functional . The side scoops look cool but are a embarrassment to the marque I love when I have to explain what they do because it is a lie. Fortunately I have never had anyone press for details after explaining what they did .
